But with Pritchard out, could a possible Greg Oden-Beasley deal be considered by the Blazers?

I find it interesting that I keep hear Greg's name thrown out by writers and fans in trade scenarios.
Really?
Sam Bowie for Buck Williams. Maybe lightning can strike twice.
Who would be the Buck Williams in this scenario? Certianly not Michael Beasley. Beasley is an undersized 4 who is a less efficient scorer and worse rebounder than LaMarcus Aldridge. I'd pass on the guy if he was saint. He's not. He's a disruption AND a very mediocre player. No thanks.

Nik was implying he didn't understand Oden's name being thrown into trade talks *in general*, and that is what I was disagreeing with.
I think he's surprised fans and writers following other teams are interested in Oden, on the presumption that no one but Blazers fans should consider Oden valuable.

If you consider the Heat offer inadequate, that's cool - but that doesn't mean there aren't other offers out there.
Nik is on your side, of thinking Oden is essentially worthless.I think he's surprised fans and writers following other teams are interested in Oden, on the presumption that no one but Blazers fans should consider Oden valuable.
So I don't think you two disagree.![]()
Actually you're both wrong. I just find it interesting that national writers (Sam Smith, Ira Winderman et al.) seem to have zeroed in on Oden. I would think that most would assume he's gone the way of the Bowie and the Dodo. I don't think Oden's worthless, I just think a healthy Greg is sort of like a mythical beast; rarely seen and hard to prove. That said if somebody ever finds the skeletal remains of a bigfoot or if Greg ever plays in 75 games (in a single season) then I'll be pretty excited.
"I don't consider him worthless, I just think his worth doesn't exist. But I'll be thrilled if something crazy happens like Bigfoot is discovered or Oden proves to have value. And I'd think that national writers would also consider him largely valueless, ala Sam Bowie."
That...sounds like I was right?"I don't consider him worthless, I just think his worth doesn't exist. But I'll be thrilled if something crazy happens like Bigfoot is discovered or Oden proves to have value. And I'd think that national writers would also consider him largely valueless, ala Sam Bowie."
I mean...you stated that you don't think he's worthless and then proceeded to say exactly the opposite. Is there actually a meaningful distinction between "worthless" and "mythical worth?"![]()

Hehe. Internet theoretical dollars proved to be valueless long before that South Park clip.
I have no problem with you thinking Oden is essentially valueless (which is your argument, if you're arguing that his value is theoretical and almost certain never to be realized)...I simply disagree. I just don't think my characterization of your position (in my post to oldmangrouch) was wrong as you alleged, dammit!![]()
Oh c'mon, I know. I'm just having some fun.
Me too. I'm only murderously serious when the discussion turns to Batum.
