Was Bayless just the BPA in the draft for KP? The best he could do, but didn't really want him, so he just drafted him for trade bait later?

I think something is going to happen soon.

I wish I could remember when I saw it, but during one of the pregame shows on comcast they were showing the war room during the draft just before they pulled the trigger on the J-Bay trade, and I quote, KP said, "Bayless, I'm telling you, get Bayless, he's a helluva kid." Sure didn't sound like BPA, or somebody he was going to use as trade bait ... not to say he's untouchable or untradeable, but I got the distinct impression KP wanted him.

My motto when it comes to young players is, never criticize a player that can't legally drink.

The guy is a good player. He has the athleticism, and was commonly considered the consensus Number 4 pick in the NBA draft before OKC shook things up. Miami was considering him at number 2.

It's hard to get into a rhythm when you don't play much or consistently. Add to the fact the toll of NBA travel, the stress of living up to being a lottery pick, and being young on a team of young players (who have accomplished something). Outside the lack of PT, it is a good situation for him though. I have no doubt that he will become a very good player, a starter in this league, within a couple of years. I don't think we should trade him, because I don't think his current value indicates how good he really is. Sergio and others I am more willing to see let go.

A similar situation is Gilbert Arenas. A 6'4" PG from Arizona who was in between PG/SG and didn't play a whole lot the first part of his rookie season...and then he blew up. Would Bayless being the next Arenas (even a poor man's Arenas) work for anyone else?

Jerryd hasn't even cracked an egg yet to get to the batter. Let the man have a chance to get himself in the kitchen.

This cake thing analogy is freaking getting stupid.

I like that thought.

Damn, Man.....are you hungry?

I got love for you home boy... but do you ever say anything insightful?! LoL

Dude, don't troll, you're better than that....:tsktsk:

And, come on, seriously, you have to admit, that it HAS to be getting a little old.... Every three thread's on here, is about our "cake" and baking this, and over baked that, or under-baked, or ingredients are off... :dunno: getting dumb.

I too am sick of all the campaign slogans -- Yes we Cake! Cake the Plumber. Cake First! Voting for McCake is like voting for 4 more years of Baking! Baking a Cake takes a Village! Cake we can Believe in.

...because he was BPA (in KP's view), and therefore the easiest to trade since KP didn't get who he wanted.

Yeah, goddammit KP. How could you fail getting us Rose?!

Your knowledge of the inner workings of KP's mind is amazing. Note: I'm not telling people what he thought, I'm relaying what he said in an unscripted moment, in the heat of "battle" during draft day.

Same thing. What you claim he said supports my take on the situation. BPA. It does not go further to support anything else.

He might or might not be part of the cake. But he could be like how you can substitute Apple Sauce for eggs.

Clearly not. And if you need the difference explained, there's no helping you.

like, shitty?

Too early to tell on Bayless. For god's sake, he's a super-young rook- Let's hang on to him for at least a season before we cast him off.

Bayless is part of a professional sports team. Unless he's also a stripper, I don't think he's part of any cakes.

Bayless is a keeper. He is struggling right now, but I know he can break down his defender and attack the basket. Right now he is just not finishing the way I think he can. Plus he is a very good defender, (Against PG's)
He just has a lot of skills IMO that I think we need on this team. If we need to package him to get someone really good, then OK. But other than that he is a long term starter with Roy. I really think they will build some chemistry at some point.
