Having BET as a channel was originally about blacks having their own station with shows based on the black experience in America. CBS, FOX, NBC and the rest simply did not provide that. It is the same thing with Telemundo and al-Manar in France. To say that whites should get a station too is crazy, simply because most of the shows (outside of BET and the rest of the minority-based stations) are built upon the White-American experience. It's not about "oh, lets separate from the whities because they oppressed us."

For many years, MTV refused to play videos by black people other than Michael Jackson (was he still black?) or Run-DMC.BET was the only national outlet for hood creativity.

I cant stand desperate housewives,gilmore girls,24, that one show with the doctors,etc. theres bad sh*t and good sh*t on every station. I dont watch a ton of BET but its better then most stations.

When artists like T.I. and Yung Joc are glorified as good hip hop...that is just a travesty. What I am saying is the music in 90% of music videos on BET, MTV, and VH1 is just garbage. There are a few good songs played, but for the most part it sucks. It's not like it used to be...and BTW I am the white you think of. I am Italian, the closest white there is to black.

Racism is dying down from it's horrible extremes of decades ago. Yes, it will always be around, just not as bad as then. The best thing to do is to move on, I think. You are entitled though, to handle it in whatever way you choose.

I apolagise for my "sins of the father comment. It was taken in a completely different light than I intended. What I meant is that Black people (god I hate to use terms like that) shouldn't go around hating the white man- same goes in for whities hating the africans americans.We are all people and this type of disscussion does not help!Primetime can I ask you honestly (no offense intended whatsoever). Does it really bother you to be caller Nigger? I mean from a white person- and what is the difference betwen a black person saying it and a white person? Like I said, BET was made as a channel for shows displaying the black experience in America, not some kind of way to separate further.

So it will probably be years before I'm allowed to have an opinion on this topic.

I don't think BCB 1 or 2 has either. Or you. Or anybody. You're just explaining your perspective. We can all sing together but we can't talk together. Know what I mean? We should listen. Then respond. Intelligence is nothing but intelligent conversation, dig?
