Not much word yet on his eye, from his injury from Saturday (2/5/11). Is he probable tonight against the Bulls? Here's his tweeter pic.

More importantly, how many more players have to go down before Babbitt gets his first NBA start?

According to this morning's game preview in the Oregonian, he's going to play and will start in place of Joel again.

Sheesh.

Are you suggesting that we should actually read the Oregonian?

Sheesh is right...

Nate sure likes 6-9 guys at center. LOL. Like Cunningham, Juwan Howard, etc.

Hope he sits. He gets hit again, he'll be out for a long time.

Slap some goggles on him - as long as he has two working knees, he qualifies as game-ready for this team!

What is the team worried about? They were obviously so confident in Sean Marks that they sent the D League kid back.

Yet another brilliant move by Cho results in the team being even thinner in the front court.

Will Cho make a single move this season that doesn't hurt the team?

If he does make a trade I am very afraid of the deal he may do.

For a second there I thought that was a picture of Paul Pierce.

Because Johnson came with an injury exception, if we would have re-signed him to another 10 day contract, Camby would have had to sit out another two weeks. That was Cho's choice: Live without Johnson for a couple of games until Camby returns or have Johnson but not have Camby for two weeks. What would you have done?

Dante has to be one of my favorite current Blazers. It's hard to say he's vital to our success when Roy and Oden sit in street clothes and we still manage to be in the playoff-picture but he is one of my favorite players and I think highly of him.

He's the type of player that you can call a tweener and he's also the kind of player you can consider mediocre talent-wise. But even just his attitude and the way he approaches the game and his role on the team is admirable. I think of him as a player who sets example even without being an All-Star or even close, he's not a 'pure'-anything but he plays with enthusiasm and heart, within his limitations. He plays hard and he plays smart and he plays team-ball. He's exactly the kind of player I would consider a keeper. I think of him as a constant overacheiver, you can't teach that and even if you ask for a good player in return, there aren't many players like him.

Why would he have to sit out another 2 weeks? We could have cut Johnson after 10 days and brought him back then. Is there a regulation in place that says you have to hold out a player by the week or something? Last I remember, you just had to activate them on game day. He was cut Feb 4. 3 of the 10 days on the contract would have already gone by.

Because we got him on an injury exception. Part of the injury exception waiver (which gets you that 16th slot) is that the player for whom you received an injury exception will not be back for at least two weeks.

But if you just want to believe Cho is a moron, there's little I can do to stop you.

Assumed that Camby will be out for at least two more weeks because my medical team hasn't been right even one time in the last three years about recovery timelines so I would have kept Johnson around and forced Camby to sit for the next two weeks to make sure he comes back fine.

Yes but we already met that condition. When we got the exception, Camby was out for longer than 2 weeks.

Exactly. Furthermore, I would have informed Camby that he won't be returning until after the all-star break and to take it easy and rest up until that point.

If I were GM I would have asked a bunch of message board fans (i.e. internet nerds) what I should do. I probably woudl have created a poll, and then asked for Denny to permaban anybody who criticized me as it was a personal attack. But that's just me. :ghoti:

so, if Camby returns on schedule, and if he can actually contribute, Cho made the right call.

If Camby doesn't make it back, can't play effectively, or re-injures himself from returning too soon....

Dante is out there rocking a kick ass terminator style facemask with black sunglasses inside.

Well at least he showed up for the game. Can you get a picture off with your iphone and post it up here?

I sympathize with your attempt to make sense of what Cho did. It sounds like this is the rule:

Beginning on the day the injury exception player is picked up from the D-League (for 10 days), we can't activate the injured player for 14 days. If we choose to renew the 10-day contract, the 14-day clock restarts.

The confusion comes from fitting the 10-day cycle into the 14-day cycle. When you do the pair of cycles again, the washing machine instructions say, "Repeat." This is like Ptolemy's cycles within cycles theory of how the Sun and planets go around the Earth.

If anyone could cite the CBA rule, it would clarify our speculation.
