<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The lights went on at Byron Scott's home in the wee hours yesterday. After sleeping fitfully, the Nets coach finally had had enough of all the tossing and turning. "My wife said, 'Where you going?' Scott said yesterday. "I said, 'I can't sleep. I've got to get up.'"
So Scott got up and watched, of all things, a tape of Wednesday night's 96-93 loss to Memphis, his team's fourth consecutive defeat. Later, Scott would spend some time paying bills. He must have some expenses since Scott said that writing those checks was actually more painful than watching a replay of his underachieving team.
Obviously, these are not the best of times for Scott, now in his fourth season as the Nets coach. After two consecutive Eastern Conference championships, he is in the final year of his contract. And with his team losing 11 of its first 18 games and showing scant signs of life, none of the higher-ups in the Nets organization is beating a path to his door and begging him to sign an extension. Scott has been around the NBA long enough to know which way the wind is blowing, and if things don't change dramatically -- and soon -- he knows the next gust could blow him clear out of town.</div>
Do you think he's next to be fired? Much as I like Scott, I don't think his presence on the bench is healthy anymore. They're trying very hard to make the public believe that Kidd and company is happy with him. But we know otherwise.
Do you think he should be fired? If yes, who do you think fits the description as the next Nets' head coach?
