Alyssa Milano won’t speak at Women’s March unless organizers condemn Louis Farrakhan

Actress-turned-activist Alyssa Milano won’t speak at the next Women’s March unless its organizers condemn controversial, anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

Women’s March organizers Linda Sarsour and Tamika Mallory have been tied to Farrakhan in the past. Mallory even refused to denounce Farrakhan after attending a speech in which he said, "The powerful Jews are my enemy.”

Sarsour went on to defend Mallory in a lengthy Facebook post, declaring that she would “not sit back while a strong, bold, unapologetic, committed Black woman who risks her life every day to speak truth to power and organize and mobilize movements is questioned, berated and abused.”

“Any time that there is any bigotry or anti-Semitism in that respect, it needs to be called out and addressed. I’m disappointed in the leadership of the Women’s March that they haven’t done it adequately,” Milano told The Advocate.

Sarsour, a pro-Palestinian activist, has repeatedly praised Farrakhan and refused to condemn him. Mallory called him the “GOAT” or “Greatest of all time,” and served as a national organizer for his “Justice or Else” rally in 2015.

Milano told The Advocate she noticed their views regarding Farrakhan and would turn down a chance to speak at the next event if Sarsour and Mallory were still involved.

“I would say no at this point. Unfortunate that none of them have come forward against [Farrakhan] at this point. Or even given a really good reason why to support,” Milano said.

Farrakhan has also said “white folks are going down” and refers to Jewish people as termites.

Farrakhan is well known for his anti-Semitic, homophobic and controversial views. He made headlines recently be saying "Death to Israel" in Farsi and was accused of substituting "America" for "Israel” in the official language of Iran.

His controversial rhetoric goes back decades but prominent Democrats have been hesitant to denounce him. In June, Twitter took away Farrakhan's verified status after he posted a video in which he ranted about "the Satanic Jew and the Synagogue of Satan." Twitter is frequently under fire for allowing Farrakhan to have an account at all.

Listen you know damn well that guy promotes racism in the highest degree. He'a a Black Hitler in the fullness with the hate he has towards towards Jewsish people. I don't care what color white, brown, black, or yellow anyone that advocates death and destruction and calls jewish people termites should be chastised by all true Americans.

From some of my research, even Malcom X family believes Farakahn had something to do with his death.

What I said wasn't true was Maris' claim that he (Farakhan, not Maris) is a hero to the left. He isn't. And neither is Maris, for that matter.

Farakhan is a stain. Racism is fucking disgusting from him, David Duke and the President. It's not a party line issue. It just happens that many more racists are on the right than the left, primarily because the left GENERALLY condones it while the right courts their votes. If any Democrat let Farakhan speak at one of their rallies or knowingly accepted donations from him, I would never vote for that candidate. Ever.

Just as some republican politicians have been accused of being buds with Duke, there are as many demo politicians that have cozied up to Louie. Ellison & Obama for a couple.

The problem I have with that Lanny is Obama sit under that mans inflammatory preaching for 20 years. I couldn't have done that, I would have left that kind of teaching immediately and not exposed my children to such hate against America. And yes, if it was and republican or libertarian attending a hate filled preachers church like that, id feel the same. He only denounced him after it became an issue during his campaigning.

How do you know that it was inflammatory for 20 years?

Edit: Do you think Michelle Obama, "When they go low, we go high", would tolerate that for 20 years?

Maybe he wasn't? But generally with ministers their style and doctrine and message is a portrait of who they are and how they think.

I do, and I appreciate her taking that stand. There are people that stay in churches because of family and maybe being raised in that denomination. I was disappointed in h,r when she said "Im finally proud to be an American". I think there is a correlation from her sitting under that pastor and her thinking that way.
I think the Obama's are real decent people. I don't at all feel they are radical alt lefties even though they may know some, and I don't think Trump is a member of the KKK or a white supremacist, even though he may know some. People are just to quick to judge others especially in the political and religious arena.

He could be very well be all of that, the people just wanted the lessor of two evils, this time around, although I think she running again. The Clintons are so power hungry, they are not going g to let EW, Booker Bernie or any other extreme progressive take they feel is rightfully theirs. They are out campaigning now with a moderate message which is smart.

Now on to something more meaningful Cup, where would you like to see the new ball park, and would you want to be AL or NL?
Id like the Zidels or SE site.
American league for me.

Two things. The people didn't choose Trump. The electoral college did. The people chose Clinton and there is no way anyone would ever be a more vile president than Trump. I know you hate the Clinton's but to call the Trump the lesser of two evils is wrong in my opinion. I watched a former republican politician explain it very well as she said she wants a country that can get back to its core values where we show respect to one another and work for a better cause for all the people. Policies are just policies and can be worked out but when we lose our honesty, dignity and integrity as a country then we are failing. We have lost that.

As for baseball in Portland, I really don't have a preference on location as long as it has the best access and parking. I would be fine with AL or NL.

I realize that the electoral college which is made up from people elects the president. Its elected more than just republican's too. I don't know who's the least of two evils I never voted for either one, but I did vote for Slick Willy. I would say the Clintons have hurt many more people though than Trump has. Like I've said before this last election was a vote against the Clintons more than a vote for Trump. And many were previous Clinton supporters, because they came to realize that how corrupt they were, just ask Bernie supports.

There is now an Alt left, and they too are FAR left hate groups (anarchist, commies those that shout only good cops are dead cops and pigs in a blanket, anti American, guys or gals that glorify Castro and rulers that suppress and kill their people and at the same time burn up the American Flag and denounce the USA. The extreme left hate groups that prevent freedom of speech on the college campus.

Alt Right was coined by a far Right sect.
No one on the Left has coined the expression Alt Left. The only person that I know of you uses the expression is Trump so I guess he coined it but that does not make it an accepted expression.
To be an accepted expression it must be broadly used and so far only the Right has used it and then not very often.
Webster has a definition for Alt-Right but they have no definition for Alt-Left.

I think you should find another expression that is widely accepted to describe radicals on the Left such as Far Left Radicals or Far Left Militants.
It's not really a big deal and I feel like I may have made a mistake bringing it up but I just wanted to be factually correct. Pay no attention to me.
