Do people understand why the nets collapse at the end of 4th quarters?!?! Its because the coaching staff starts to fucking stray from whats been working throughout the entirety of the fucking game. To pull antoine wright off of kobe, who he held in check for three and a half quarters, and to place kidd (nearly 5 INCHES shorter than kobe, on him, that screams idiocy. There's something completely wrong when the teams broadcast color commentator understands the dynamics of basketball better than your head coach. Is it any suprise that Bryant went on to hit consecutive three pointers?!?! We pratically gave him all the space he needed with the clearence kobe had over jason's head.

I completly didn't think it was a good idea for Kidd to be on Kobe, Twan did an excellent job the entire night on him.

Also didn't agree with putting Boone in for Williams either.

exactly. but, we're lucky, we pulled it off, and hopefully frank is starting to get the hang of the rotation. hopefully by mid next month, we'll have it down pat, we seem like we're getting there..

I think Frank was trying to play it safe by putting Kidd on Kobe. It wasn't the brightest of ideas since Wright was doing an excellent job, but I can understand where Coach was coming from.

Too much hate after winning (from behind) game, guys. Way too much.

frank: "well, you know...um kidd is first team all defense which is like him being our mariano rivera!"

is he fucking out of his mind?

Sean was in there for footspeed, Boone is the next most athletic big. I wish Sean could play 48 minutes.

antoine was pulled a couple of times late in the fourth, and Boki was in there. He may have put Kidd on Kobe for continuity. I would have left Wright on Kobe, too, though--he did a heck of a job. Kobe got around him a few times in the fourth quarter but Wright was pretty impressive overall--can't hope for better.

Boone is a poor mans sean williams. I mean Freak is faster, more athletic, a better rebounder, has better hands, and actually finishes in transition!

Two faults tonight:

1.Kidd on Kobe (Why not Wright? I know Kidd is a good defender, but he is too small to guard Kobe)

2.Boone in for Sean, Sean would have blocked that layup on Kobe. But there is only a good thing is that Frank played Sean in the final minutes, and didn't play Collins.

Fixed it for ya.

And Sean Williams has more skills in the offensive end.

I don't believe that he hadn't played the organized games until he was 16.

Williams came into the game with about 10 left in the 3rd for Collins, he played well into the 4th quarter. I think Frank wanted to give a quick rest for the final stretch run, which was what had happened. I think it came down to either Collins or Boone to give Williams a quick rest.

QUOTE (jerkstore)

Williams had 6pts 7rbs(4off) 3blks 3stls

We should update the prediction thread to include whether or not Sean achieves one triple double his rookie year. Who's got the balls to take that one?

Williams and Boone are totally different players...Williams is more of a PF Boone is more of a C.

Williams is a superior athlete, defends better and is a better finisher around the basket.

Boone is a superior rebounder, especially offensively, he moves better offensively, is a better passer, has higher basketball IQ.

They would actually complement eachother well on the floor...but that won't happen until we get a new coach.

frank did the same thing last year when he put kidd on piere against the celtics in a game where we were up in the 4th quarter with 5 minutes left to go but pierce hit the game winner over kidd. you'd think he'd learn to maybe trust other guys by now.

He only trust veterans. You get the feeling that he's anxiously looking at our young guys to make a mistake so he has reason to chane the lineup. He's the next Jeff van Gundy.

Frank needs to put Vince back in the starting line up, enough of this Vince coming off the bench garbage.

Wow, I was just going to say the same thing in one of the other threads. As Marv and Mark Jackson noted, listing Williams at 6'10" is generous as he's closer to 6'8". Boone also seems to be a bigger body and more suited to banging inside with other bigs. Williams, for all this athleticism and leaping ability, is a surprisingly weak rebounder (bad technique on the box out?)

I think these two would complement each other well in the starting lineup as well.

well, that's a surprise for me. only if high basketball IQ is getting measured by the ability to run pick-n-roll. because in other facets of the game Boone is just below average.

Note the use of the term higher. No one is saying he's Tim Duncan, but relative to S.Williams, I wouldn't argue with that statement today.
