The 43.7% isn't his FG%, that means that 43.7% of his shots are from that range. So while he's taking a larger proportion of his shots from that range, his FG% is only 38.5% this year from 5ft and in, compared to last years 51.2%.

Mags was right. I understood what you were saying. I'm glad that he's attempting more shots in the paint, BUT I would like to see a few more mid-rangers as well.
 
IMHO it's as simple as it coming down to shot selection. I would say Lillard takes about 5 "bad" shots a game. He really takes some head scratchers sometimes.

If he can eliminate those 5 "bad" shots that would really make a difference.

Probably four of those five are drives into the paint where he hopes to get bailed out.
