Never thought he'd be active this year, never mind get playing time, but Frazier has been ineffective and was benched in favor of luis vs the clippers. Could montero work his way into a role, albeit a small one by years end?

The only one reason he played was because the CJ debacle...he wasn't even suppose to be active. Other then garbage time...or if we are so far out of the playoffs that we just want to take him for a test drive then I don't see him playing much...or injury

Who's more likely to have even a minor NBA career: Montero or Connaughton?

I think Montero has potential we just need to give him a chance. He has way more potential than Frazier

I don't even know why Connaughton is on the roster. There must be something I'm missing.

Yeah the 20 mop up minutes or whatever he's played this season really gives you an idea of who he is as a player.

There is so much talent going around in Europe and even America, guys who played in pro leagues for years. I really don't see why we have to waste our time with Pat,Montero,Alexander,Frazier and Kaman. That's way too many roster spots "invested" on 'maybes' imo.

I see what you did there.

No, he barely resembled a basketball player in SL though. No D whatsoever. He'll be filler in a trade methinks.

Taking a flyer on Cliff Alexander is a good move. Very little risk there.

Yea, he's the one who bothers me the least.
I just think 5 guys who probably won't be a part of future plans is too much.

What's the difference between Crabbe 2 years ago and Connaughton now? Who's to say that he doesn't have an NBA future?

Crabbe was considered to be a standout shooter in college, named All-American,Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and then Pac-12 Player of the Year in his junior year.

I'm not saying Pat will be a bad player, but is there something he's actually good at right now?

I'm confused--are we talking about their collegiate accolades, or their professional performance? Because as of this point two years ago, Crabbe was just a 2nd-round pick who had done nothing in the NBA, just like Connaughton.

Yes, 2 players who don't play a minute in the NBA will have similar stats, you win.

All I'm saying is that it's premature to write the book on these guys. Kaman, obviously. Frazier, sure. Montero, seems lost, but who knows? But Alexander and Connaughton are two that I'd definitely keep an open mind on.

Rebounding for size is this thing that sticks out to me the most. And I think he lead his team in College in that stat with over 7 a game as a SF.
Supposedly his other skill is shooting the rock but I don't think he has really shown that yet.

it would be nice if Cliff and Montero could at least get a few 3-5 minute stints for several games to give them a chance to earn more minutes, I mean isn't that what this season is about in reality?

I'm just saying we can try to invest elsewhere:

Seems like a knockdown shooter:

Jordan Hamilton is still only 25 yrs old:

I'm not saying we need to chase all these guys, i'm just saying that there is some talent available out there.

I felt the same way about Crabbe the first couple of years. Turns out he can play a little bit. Will Connaughton follow the same path? I have no clue, but it's probably a bit early to write him completely just yet (wait at least until next week).

Warning: The Ian Clark video is Summer League; the rest are regular season. They were fun to watch.

Personally, I actually thought there was an unwritten rule around the league that every team was required to have a marginally talented white stiff with a douche beard at the very end of their bench. Sort of a reverse affirmative action thing. Or maybe it's a Portland hipster requirement Those are the only excuses I can think of....
