Is Newt Gingrich "Electable"?

Romney runs circles around Newt Gingrich intellectually. I know people who worked with him at Bain Capital (a company of really smart people), and they remain in awe of his ability to cut to the core of an issue. Investment and acquisition requires the ability to ask the right questions; Romney has that ability.

HAHAHAHAHHA!

Oh, that's a good one! Mitt and his flop sweat, evasive answers, and waffling are a sure sign of a Brilliant Mind!

If you want contrasting (therefore, enlightening/revealing/entertaining) you have to go with Paul, Gingrich & Kane.
Now THAT would be interesting.

The fact is, with the economy in its current state and unemployment showing no signs of decreasing significantly, any candidate running against Obama becomes electable. He has nothing to run on - only an opponent to run against. This is still a center-right country. In 2008, Obama galvanized turnout from the left, while the right was subdued - unhappy with its candidate and with its outgoing President. This time it will be the left that is disillusioned, while the right will do anything for change.

Newt is the biggest fraud ever. This guy is a less charming version of Romney and a total flip flopper.

I would not vote for Newt over Mitt.

See, you and I do agree about something.

Newt's taking a big lead. The interesting thing is, he's providing actual ideas. Also, I think he's appealing to the moderates...which, is a good thing. With such polarization in Washington, we need someone who will work towards bringing folks together....not continuing to tear them apart as out current leader appears to be doing.

Newt's 68 years old. When, in those 68 years, has he ever brought folks together? Are you aware of Newt's record? Are you aware of his personality?

Serious, Newt as a consensus-builder, a peacemaker?

He's a lot of things, but he's not that.

I'm learning more and more about Newt all the time. Still haven't totally made up my mind, but I'm listening...

Bottom line, if you want to change the government you cannot re-elect people or return them to office.

You need to fill every position with a newbie, over and over and over and never stop doing it.

Single-term limits are the only real answer.

...he may as well give up after agreeing to debate with Donald Trump, what a joke :dunno:

No kidding? Fantasy world? Really?

For the record, I'm not even close to actually deciding to vote for this guy. Please tell me why I shouldn't.

"old man"...what a good one.

"on the defensive"? No, not really. There's a long ways to go before I finally make up my mind who to vote for. There's only one thing for certain: It ain't gonna be Obama.

and i am with you on this....i just wish the repubs would give me someone worth voting for on his own merit, not just that "he isnt obama"

Much better. I'd like to think that, at least. ;) Hey, on that note, here's me in Hawaii earlier this year.

the "he isn't" mantra brought us Al Gore "He's not Clinton!" and John Kerry "he's not Bush!" and John McCain "he's not Bush!"

um, the "he isn't" bandwagon is owned and driven by our current President. Unless there way something meritorious in his past that everyone missed?

totally agree, though, that it's a really crappy way of deciding our leaders. Unfortunately, it appeals to the lowest common denominators.

i believe it was satchel paige who said "age is mind over matter, if you dont mind, it dont matter"

and your not even that old! lighten up francis

:sigh:

its a two party system for gods sake, one of them will always be "not like the other guy". sometimes both of them even.

but you are too smart for any of that nonsense...

I lightened up - literally - when I found out I was getting a divorce. ;)

what do you mean, did you shit yourself and lose like 10 lbs?

or just burned all the calories off from jumping for joy?

i meant that for a large portion of the country, they couldn't tell you where the eff Afghanistan (or Pittsburgh, for that matter) is on a map, or what a QE2 actually is. Saying "I'm not the guy that's making your life suck right now" is easy, and between that and the automatic votes for (D) or (R) make up a more-than-I'd-personally-like amount of votes for the Leader of the Free World.

So yeah, I think I'm smarter than that.

I lost over 30 lbs.

1) Eating right

2) Walking 3 miles about 3 to 4 times per week

3) Sleeping better
