Is Olshey's seat getting warmer?

If he brings in Cousins without losing Dame or CJ, will people STFU about him? lol.
Probably not.

The bench has clearly sucked so far which is surprising to me. But it's not inconceivable that guys are still trying to figure out their roles. Or that they're still adjusting to other teams taking them seriously, as opposed to last year. Or that they're still learning to play with increased expectations, both for the team and for them personally due to their new contracts. And despite the rocky start they are still 5-3 (likely 5-4 after tonight), so they've been able to win some games in spite of themselves, always a good sign. The games they've actually lost were against a very good Clippers team, a very good GS team, and on the road against Phoenix in OT, who for some reason we always struggle against.

The way it's constructed, I think it's highly improbable that this team doesn't make a trade before the deadline. 8 games in and the only contracts that seem high so far are Turner and Crabbe, and I think at least one of them will find their groove. If you look around the league, Meyers has a reasonable contract, and I would go so far as to say that Harkless, Aminu, Davis, Vonleh and Plumlee are all below market value relative to what they bring.

Well of course his seat is getting warmer.... the longer you sit in your seat, the warmer it will naturally get.

Harkless contract is awesome.

That Turner deal was awful and most of us here got sick from reading the news about his signing.

Crabbe deal was "ok", because you might be able to move him for something you need.

Leonard deal...i don't know, anyone in the league wants this guy? he is basically Andrea Bargnani with that contract now and Knicks aren't as stupid as they use to be.

Frankly, if Turner's deal was awful, then Crabbe's deal is fucking terrible. His production has been as bad, if not worse, than Turner's... and he is significantly more difficult to trade. Also, Turner at least has a track record as a serviceable player in the NBA. Crabbe has never really shown a consistent ability to produce.

Dom't fret too much. There are other stupid teams out there that may want a floor spacing big.

For some reason, Meyers seems to play well against SAC. Maybe they'll take him. I call it the Harvey Grant effect. Have ONE good game against a team and the next thing you know, they're trading for you.

LoL without loosing CJ. Everyone wants to call CJ a star but when Dame goes out of the game the Blazers just fall apart. Even if CJ is still in the game.

so just recently everyone was like oh we need a big 3 to win in this league. we get a big 2 and are working towards and 3rd and now it's not balanced enough?

Like we did with Ezeli?

Huh?
CJ doesnt fall apart without Dame. The team falls apart and leaves CJ all alone.

Umm did you see his stats the last two games... come on now. I was taking you serious for a while there... not so much now.... lol.

CJ isnt an all star, but he is a star (If he can maintain this season) and I bet most GM's think the same. If CJ isnt a star, that would make him a role player. He is much more than a role player.

At any rate, CJ is critical to this team as it stands, so no, I don't want to give him up if I dont have to. You put Dame CJ and Cousins together and keep Harkless/Plums, and we have the start to a contending team. Plug in and out bench role players and that's it.

No matter how you spin it, Crabbe is a wing who can shoot and Turner cannot.

So Turner had good production under a top 3 coach and a great system in Boston (an Eastern Conference team), BIG SHIT! any other team is interested in paying his contract? even Turner was surprised he got that offer.

Crabbe signing is better just because you know he is a sought after ingredient for a lot of teams in the league.

Personally, i think a deal with Orlando will be in the works.
They can't play all these bigs and we could use any one if them.

and so far, Maurice Harkless's contract has seemed like an absolute steal.

Hopefully Allen starts to score at a better clip soon.

all that said, the team is (sample size) averaging 110 ppg..so, it's not like there is a dire need for points necessarily.

Yea i'm starting to think about Leonard+something(Crabbe?) for Gay.

Turner wasn't signed to be a shooter. Crabbe was.

I would like to point out that Turner is shooting 44.4% from three. Crabbe is only shooting 37%.

Crabbe has only made 6 more three pointers than Turner so far this season.

You guys are basically arguing about who sucks less, Crabbe or Turner. The fact is, right now, they both suck and are woefully under performing their contracts. Crabbe makes more and has a trade kicker built into his contract that may impact Neil's ability to trade him. Plus, Turner can be traded on 12/15. Crabbe not until 1/15.

In any case, I hope at least one of them turns it around. I know PER isn't the be all, end all stat, but when you have two guys in your rotation with single digit PERs, they are killing you. Throw in Aminu and Ed Davis and we have four guys in our top 8 with single digit PERs. That's not good.

Still too early to panic, but not too early to be concerned.

If Dame and CJ weren't balling out of their minds, this season would look very different.

Stats for 8 games lol

Found this interesting. From insider. "Many believe blazers inked guys to retain trade chips to use later". This makes i much sense given how deep we are with guys not seeing minutes. I sense olshey making a trade of some sort

And yet we are judging these players and their contracts after those same 8 games. :dunno:

I don't, i care about attributes.
I wouldn't sign Turner because i know that we're not in the 90's anymore.

If the other team is willing to leave your wing open from outside and you can't do anything about it then it's a problem.

But you need to go through 100 games before those 7.
8 games is not some tiny sample size. You don't think if you watched a team for 8 games you'd figure out who's good and who wasn't? Get real.
