Is Outlaw Worth It?

And so we're on the same page, here's how it started:

(Stomp, Post 13)sure he's worth it... besides being an effective player who helps my favorite team win games, the fact that he pisses off the glass half full of piss posters here is endearing. You know those posters... they're smarter then the Blazer coach who plays him so much, the GM who praises him, and the statisticians that show him to be a quality player... those guys are morons too. Coach after coach is an moron and every season brings a new scapegoat.

Another nice game by Travis last night in another win... and true to form the are out in force crying. It's like the sun coming up in the East.

So the only time I attributed something to you, STOMP, was here:

(BrianFromWA, Post 31)
Tell me, STOMP and PapaG...since I'm obviously not as smart as NBA players on your favorite team, or coaches who play them, or GMs who sign them to short-term, relatively-bargain contracts with team options...how even I know that when you're up in the fourth quarter, you don't take contested 3-pointers early in the shot clock, but a 6th-year player doesn't? Perhaps the smart coaches or GMs talked to Travis about this after the Orlando game we blew, in which case he either forgot or blew them off, or the smart coaches didn't say anything to him, which goes along with the rest of your "we're doing GREAT! We're a young team who's winning (except when we lose)!" mindsets. One thing I will say the "smart coaches" did right...after Travis single-handedly gave up a steal and layup to Pierce to bring the game to within one by pretending to be a PG (Though he didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express this morning), the smart coaches decided to have him take the ball out so he wouldn't have to be stuck in that position again.

in direct response to your post. I fail to see how I attributed anything to you that you didn't just post. Then comes:
dude, mix in some periods.

Rather then taking the 45 questions you strung together individually, I'd point out that for the most part your post is a stream of strawman consciousness. I've sited Travis's positives and negatives in this thread and umpteen times before and yet you post this absolute nonsense about me ignoring the bad that comes with the good with Travis.

I disagree with your opinion that the Blazers should trade Greg for Kwame and I won't sign your petition to change the team colors to purple and pink. Unlike you I'm not for putting Shonz in a home, throwing away the key, and sliding bread and water under the door. I also hope you're dead wrong about the club being moved to WA as soon as Paul Allen can wriggle out of the RG's lease.
I posted about two specific items (the long jumper with time on the clock, and the Pierce turnover). I posted that you seem to think that "glass if half full piss posters" and ":ohno:" posters are out crying like the "sun coming up in the east", and not talking about the actual points the ":ohno:" posters were making. You then made up that I have an opinion about "Greg for Kwame" and "petitions" and "shonz" and "RG lease"s.

Someone else seems to be in Fantasy Land.

And the post above wasn't disingenuous. Please don't attack me like that.

Travis is a bench player making $4 mil. In that context, of course he is worth it.

Outside of guys on their rookie contracts, how many $4 million players are more productive?

I'd like to see TO improve on two things - hitting the boards hard every night, and his perimeter defense off the ball. He can be a menace on the offensive boards sometimes.

I'll live with the occasionaly costly t/o and bad shot selection from time to time.

What impressed me about the end of the Celts game was that TO came back to score on that spin move and baby dunk over KG AFTER he had taken/missed a bad shot and then allowed Pierce to strip him (easily) He kept his head high and ended up making a huge play to help preserve the win.

I know that he's a 6 year vet, but he's only 24. And his first 3 years in the league he was used sparingly, so I'm not so sure he's done maturing as a player.

Another thing? (And I think he can totally do this...)

Attack the basket. Get to the free throw line.

Don't give up on the jumper. The wide-open threes have been very impressive and important for the team, and his odd fadeaways early in the shot clock is just part of who he is as a player.

He can, though, beat his guy off the dribble after a defender over-commits, and he is capable of finishing at the rack and/or getting to the line. He seems like he is making an effort in that direction the last few games, and if he is able to do it at all consistently? He becomes instantly much more valuable to the team.
