I find religion somewhat funny because people actually believe there is a guy named God that is in a place called Heaven above the Earth (even though space is the only thing) and you go there when you die, and God watches over you. Really? Why did my grandmother die? Why do people get infatuated with gun play? Robberies? Murders? etc. etc. etc.

Everything happens for a reason. People die thats the way it goes. We cant have everybody alive the world would be to crowded.
Their are disasters and people dying all the time, in my old church we praid for the end of fighting and such and the fighting never stopped, people never stopped dying. A girl on the news that got rabies last year said that she was praying for a kid in Texas who had it and a week later he died. So I ask you, is praying a waste of time?

Not every prayer can be answered. Why not post all the wonderful things praying has done rather than what it hasn't. God is letting us fix our own problems. If he stopped the fighting right away we would never learn how to handle the situation. He lets us make our own mistakes and learn from them.
No kidding but i'm talking about praying...it obviously doesn't work.

It has worked for tons of people. Theres so many people who have turned there life around through prayer. It works for me.
I say it is useless because who is listening? God would be listening to billions of people, wouldn't he/she/it be a busy person/alien?

He's god. Hes a superpower beyond measure.
Instead of praying to god asking favors to win the lotto and what not,you should be praying that your healthy and to your family.

Agreed. Alot of people pray they win a million dollars then when it doesn't happen they blame god. God does not grant those types of prayers. If he did everybody would be rich.
I've looked at the bible. It's complete bogus and crap someone made up. I love how people claim to know everything and say they can write something that happened 100's of years before they were born. It's all crap.

Its testimonials from different people. The bible was written by 100's of people. People keep passing the information on in life. Its one huge chain link.
I feel it's great people think clappin their hands together and preying and overcomming drug addictions. But quite frankly, it's all in their head. They stopped because they wanted to, they wanted a better life, and they didn't want to live like that anymore. Not because of a white priest in a large robe that talked to him about a dead guy.

I disagree. When people pray to stop using drugs or ect it does help. If you put your hand out to god he will put his hand out to yours.

exactly ballahloic and celticsballa maybe they are just clapping their hands and praying to nothing but still people have success overcoming things by religion, it gives them committment and support from people they have never seen before. Well, I really don't feel like getting into a God argument lol. But I appreciate all of your opinions, and I just don't want you to think of me as some type of bad guy because I don't believe any of that. But either way, no matter what side you are on, you could aruge any of the comments above by either one of us and have a different opinion/answer.

I agree that the blind ritualistic idol worship like praying is wrong, But praying has its positives as well. Reducing stress, and being involved in an organised religion makes good citizens. One of the purposes of religion is to become a better person morally and religions around the world do that if they are followed. Unfortunately human nature is always looking for the easy way to salvation...you know black magic, deitiest, idols, etc. Fun Fact-More people in the UK believe in black magic then in God.

In fact Christians and Jews have been around alot longer than Islam has so why should your faith be any more 'real' than theirs?

I am not Christian, Mulsim or Jewish, but I was pointing out to Airblaze that the Quran was written after the old and new testaments. Its just funny to me how all religions think they are the right one. Its one of the reasons that I know there isn't a 'proper' one to follow.
 
I know that, but the Bible and the Torah were rewritten, and the only reason God made Islam because after Moses died, and Ibraham died, Jews and Chrsitians forget about it, so he sent out Muhammad (PBUH) to preach Islam which is exactly like the original Christianity and Judasim, except with a few modifications. im not saying my religon is more REAL, i never did and youre pretty gay if you try and change what i said. but, im just saying, as long as you do whatever your religon tells you to do, its fine. maybe people can be so caught up in their religon that they wouldnt believe in others. thats okay, because each religon believes in god (well most do) so if you believe in him, im sure god will be okay with it.
 
They didnt forget, but in the BC's, in the middle east there was a lot of crime and people forgot what adam and ibraham and moses and jesus taught.
 
fair enough, but I believe that if people follow a religion they should follow everything about it. In alot of the 'main' religions of the world women don't have as many rights as men, they are told to do whatever their husband asks of them, this is just plain wrong to me.

Nobody was dissing Christianity JB. Milgod some religions dont say they are the best (maybe that can be interpreted though) and they say people should follow their own religions to the best of their ability. The religion might give people equality and justice but the political system and culture might take that away or use religion to do evil like take over land and force conversion. Its just how things are, but not how they should be. Fun Facts-(inthewest)Women have a better education then men but earn less money. They provide life and get less support(child supportetc) then doctors(new tech) who save lives. If a memberof a religious group was beaten ppl would be pissed off. yet women arebeaten all the time in their own homes. etc etc.

I think that praying isn't a waste of time if you really believe in the kind of stuff. But it is if you like pray for something like your team winning the championship or something like that.

What are you some guy represting womens' rights? or are you just a girl? Im not saying i dont care but no offense in a lot of threads you seem like a woman to me. And times have changed, thats in all relgions, but no one follows EVERYTHING in their religon, only extremists do. And also, it says that women should do what men tell them to do in the bible, right? it does in the quran, and the torah also, but all people say are that muslim extremists are bad. so are christian extremists and jewish extremists. same sh*t

It says that the man is responsible for his family and it his job to be the head of the family and basically keep everything under control, but that in no way demeans women or says that the wife should do whatever her husband tells her too.

That was a long time ago when the world wasn't very civilized, there's no radical Christians terrorists these days.
 
And don't blame this sh*t on Muslims either, those dudes are crazy extremists in Iraq, most muslims aren't like that. No one is like that. Like I said, times have changed. It says men are the head of the family. so? Men are the stronger, more dominant species. So what's wrong with taking care of the family? what woman actually wants to be the protector? i don't get your complaint here Milgod.
