I was just thinking that its odd we live in an era where science and sports have converged and formed an unlikely partnership....Before the last 25 years or so, no one in the science world cared about sports, and I figure its because there wasnt enough money in it.....but thats not the case anymore....science is responsible for the desinger steroids(and the amphetamines) that have brought the baseball stats of the last few decades into question....Its not just hitters, its pitchers too....science is responsible for surgeries such as Tommy Johns, which actually makes a pitchers elbow better than it was before if they are smart and patient about the rehab....the surgery that gets very little pub but has become very popular is Lasik for hitters....many players have had thier vision corrected to 20/10(as in you see objects at 20 feet as if they were 10 feet away). so that they can pick up the ball easier....is it really fair to enhance yourself to super human levels of vision? Have you ever wondered how a hitter can pick up the spin on a curveball thats traveling 85 miles per hour or the lack of spin on a fastball thats closer to 100mph? Its because they have telescopic eyes!...I want you to picture Barry Bonds striding to the plate in 1985 and then in 2007....notice anything different beside his ape like cranium growth? hes wearing more armor than a dark ages knight....of course guys are hitting HRs at record pace when they are chemically enhanced, surgically enhanced, and have eliminated the inside part of the plate because they stand on top of it with no fear of being hit, knowing thier forcefields will prevent injury and its a free pass to 1st basebase if they get plunked....so pitchers have no choice but to throw it right down the middle or off the outside edge of the plate, allowing hulky super seers to extend thier gorilla arms and drive the ball into orbit....
