Is Slam Dunk Zone the new Bleacher Report?

Welcome to our community

I'm sorry I didn't point out the sarcasm. I thought the 'Official forum of the Portland Trailblazers' could figure something like that out.

Oh shit! Egg on my face. You TOTALLY got me on this one!!! So, your power rankings weren't meant to be taken seriously? That explains EVERYTHING. Oh man, was I wrong. Slam Dunk Zone isn't the new Bleacher Report, apparently it's The Onion of online sports journalism. Man, good one!

Hey, I have an idea... Rather than just come here and be all butt hurt that someone disagreed with your article, why not defend what you wrote? This is your golden opportunity to prove you're the one that is right and I'm the clueless dip shit.

So, here's what I wrote:

"Even if we ignore GSW, MEM, TOR and all the other teams that have won more games than the Rockets, AND have been playing better lately, just look at the No. 4 Blazers:

No. 1 HOU, 21-9, have lost 4 of their last 6, 5-5 in their last 10 games with a +0.80 MOV

No. 4 POR, 26-7, have won 4 in a row, 9-1 in their last 10, with a +10.30 MOV"

Go ahead, shoot me down. Tell us all why the 21-9 rockets, who have gone 5-5 in their last 10 games deserve to be ranked above the 25-7 Blazers who have won 9 of their last 10. There must be some reason why you ranked the Rockets first, ahead of the Blazers (and the Warriors, Grizzlies, Raptors, etc.). So, what is it???

BNM

As Bart Scott eloquently stated

CAN'T WAIT.

The Blazers are off to a good start, but they haven't proven anything yet.

They've proven they have won 9 of their last 10. What have the Rockets proven? That they've lost 4 of their last 6.

Also, i saw what you did there... but it made you look bafoonish in the process... sorry.

And didn't you know?! He wrote that the signing of Josh Smith (30% from the field and 45% FT) is just the player to get them over the hump!

I was just quoting Terry Stotts. Thought you might pick up on that one.

Yeah, but the execution was horrible. Now you just look silly using my sig quote. Up your game, FAMS!

A coach saying that is much different than a wannabe journalist, trying to defend putting the Rockets first in the power rankings.

I was just trying to look into the future, which is obviously not possible. Yes the Blazers are rolling as of late, who knows they may even get out of the west. It was just my first try at an article like this and I obviously failed. Now you will probably try to rub it in my face some more, or maybe call me some more names. To be honest, I don't care. I can learn from this, and hopefully get it right next time.

OK, fair enough. Good luck with your future articles. I used to write for a print publication (nothing to do with basketball) and it's a tough gig. Sorry if I was a dick.

Now I would love to rep you, but I spent all my reps today. It wouldn't be bad, but your Houston being #1 was just awful. If you had Golden State or even the Raptors, you could have good arguments.

The Rockets are a mess. They are wearing two hats (team Howard and team Harden). They are like oil and vinegar. Morey needs to build around Howard or Harden, using the other piece to get the pieces to compliment that player.

Again, close! Only in 6th grade. My school doesn't have newspapers, so I just pretend we so sometimes.

Good luck with your future articles. You should message BNM and have him help you in your publications. He is an insane stat guy and writes well.

Sorry I was being a dick too

OK, give the kid a break. He wasn't the only one who thought the Josh Smith signing was a good idea. Daryl Morey thought so, too. He's paid a lot more and should know better.

Sorry for offending you, Blazer fans are tough. Thinking about doing another rankings at all star break. I'll take this conversation into consideration, and move them up. And if you don't mind, how did you find the website in the first place? Just out of curiosity.

Only move us up if it's justified. Who knows how we'll be playing then. Hopefully we'll still be doing well, but time will tell.

I clicked on a link on one of the stats sites I was visiting this morning. I think it was basketball-reference.com. If so, good for you. That's a pretty high traffic site.

It's not you needing to put Portland first, but don't be putting teams that are playing worse in front of them. Like I said earlier, if Golden State or Toronto was ahead of them, I would disagree but not like this.

Nah it's really good that you did bro. Feel free to post new articles. I would love to promote your site.

disagree, i think its pretty great actually

like i said, welcome, we are blazer freaks, but pretty knowledgeable for the most part

has anyone asked what your favorite team is? the rockets?

Hey, no. It's cool that you did. Stick around a while. Yeah, we're all die hard Blazer fans, well most of us, but there's a lot of good basketball discussion that goes on in the game threads and especially the monthly Around the NBA threads.

Count me (the one guy who defended you and got what you were going for, BTW), as one who also thinks it's pretty cool that you came in here to discuss the commentary. I wish more writers were willing to engage their critics.

And I echo BNM's sentiments. Stick around--we can never have too many hoops junkies around, and dissenting opinions make this place interesting.
