After all the moves that have been made, if Aldridge does not come back, is Terry the right guy for this roster? We brought him in because we wanted to run an offense similar to the Mavs with Dirk. We have added quite a few guys that do not fit that system.

Is now the time, with virtually a brand new roster, to go after a different coach?

Where's Larry Brown when you need him. He'd be perfect for these pups.

I've been very happy with Terry. A coaching change could be required, but I don't think we look into that till we see what type of schemes Stotts uses with this new roster.

Yes.

Stotts did a good job with a roster built to his specifications. You could even argue he got them to over-achieve. The new roster couldn't run his offense against a high school team.

I'd say give him a year but I'd love to give Tyronn Lue a shot.

Ime Udoka may be another guy I'd consider. At least for an interview.

I don't know if Stotts really wants this kind of roster. He did what he could with the previous one, and not too shabby.

If you're looking to win games and make the playoffs through energy and turn guys into stars, Thibodeau is out there.

Refer to my top free agent targets..

Thibodeau

Let him run them into the ground for a year or two, teach them some fucking defense.

Then fire him

Lue might even bring enough cache amongst current players to draw talent to the team. He is big time respected by LeBron and that gets the admiration from the rest of the league. But drawing him would be tough because I think he's sitting pretty to become head coach of a LeBron team one day if he says with the Cavs.

Money brings coaches. Allen has money. I'd give Lue a 5/25 or larger.

Lue would be a great coach for Dame too, IIRC he taught T-Mac how to deal with double teams and zones in Orlando. Guy was born to be a coach

Stotts took a mediocre team and make it a top 5 offense.
Then he took the same pathetic defense team and made them top 10 defense.

Then said team got injured, so yeah Stotts sucks!?!?!?!?!

Stotts is probably asking himself if this is the team for him...It'll be interesting to see what the Blazers do...what players we get

Didn't say that he sucks. Asked if his system would work with this roster as it is.

We now have a mediocre team, Stotts will.....

Let me more clear. Neil would think this is a ridiculous question. This isn't a fantasy league where you change coaches willy nilly.

The assistant coaches matter much more than our head coach right now. We need to focus on player development. A head coach can get you 5 less or 5 extra wins. That won't be very important next year.

If you see Ed Davis hanging out on the perimeter jacking up jumpers all day, then the answer is no. Terry has to go.

Well at least we will be confident that "Stotts leaving the most inefficient shot open" may pay dividends to whomever team Aldridge plays for.

I think one of the draws of our team in a few years will be the stability of Neil, Stotts and Damian. There are so many teams recycling management and GM's continuously. Better to build a stable organization. Terry did great with the old roster when it was healthy. Lets see how he does with a young group that should focus on player development and having fun.

I think a lot of that was our defensive schemes around Lopez and Aldridge. We have very different big men now so the schemes could be radically different. I'd expect more trapping and switching which could be interesting to watch.

I know bro. That was more of a dig. Yes I'm salty!!!

Stotts' system seems predicated on ball-movement and spacing through shooters on the wing. Who are our shooters now? Who can create offense besides Lillard and who is our bail-out scorer when everything else goes to shit?

I don't think Stotts should be fired, but I wouldn't expect him to be able to do much with this roster offensively next year. But that's more about Jimmies and Joes than Xs and Os.

Shooters: Dame, CJ, Crabbe, Biebs (and Connoughton, Diez)

I don't expect him to be able to get a bunch of just-assembled young players to play excellent offense or defense in the first year. However, the following year I expect to be much improved. Stotts (or any coach in this situation) really has his work cut out for him. The Jazz coach had them playing well after 1.5 years (or was it 2.5?).
