Is the Lakers' overall roster better than the Blazers'?

Agree about the color coding, though.

If Nash is healthy, he is still easily the best true PG in the world. He would unselfishly help the Lakers as much as a healthy, selfish Bryant.

Writers talk about how different the team would have been with a healthy Bryant, but they don't notice how much better they would have been, if missing Kobe, but with a healthy Nash.

So good, he lost his job twice. The two times he made it to the finals, he was in the Leastern Conference. Coming out in the East was a joke.
Getting fired from the Lebron-less Cavs doesn't count; that franchise is a joke (Tristan Thompson, Dion Waiters).

The first two times he was fired, it was after 49 win seasons, and he was scapegoated when the team got worse because management was unable to keep significant pieces.

Lakers had a better bench than us last year too. So what? We made it to 2nd round. They went to lottery. Dumb thread.

My answer to the thread question is an emphatic...NO!

Just looking position by position, without taking into account chemistry, potential for injury, or degrees of superiority:

PG1 Lillard > Lin
SG1 Matthews < Bryant
SF1 Batum > Young
PF1 Aldridge > Davis
C1 Lopez > Hill

PG2 Blake < Nash
SG2 McCollum < Brooks
SF2 Wright < Henry
PF2 Robinson < Randle
C2 Kaman > Sacre

PG3 Barton > Clarkson
SG3 Crabbe > (Open)
SF3 Claver < Johnson
PF3 Freeland < Boozer
C3 Leonard < Kelly

I see them better at 8 spots, with our starters being considerably better, but their bench being decidedly better. I'm speculating about Randle being better than Truck, but I think the rest of it seems pretty clear. Tell me where I'm wrong?

:devilwink: :stirthepot:

I'd slow down on the Kobe is better than Wes talk, with the caveat that we have NO clue how healthy Kobe is and he is clearly aging, especially if you factor in Wes' defense ability, it is probably closer than we think. That said, a truly healthy Kobe who is somehow rejuvenated is obviously better than Wes (I am doubtful on the prospect of that being true though, and I don't think his body can hold up to CARRYING that team for 82 games, which is what he's going to try and do).

Also, not sure I agree with Nash is better than Blake for the same general reason, Nash has a pretty poor injury history as of late, and didn't he flat out say he is pretty much playing to collect a paycheck at this point? Blake is still a decent player shooting wise and had a solid ast/to ratio I believe.

Robinson and Randle is interesting comparison, I'd lean towards you being correct because I think very highly of Randle. I'm also curious to see how McCollum and Barton play against actual NBA players.

All hope is lost for Leonard... :)

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled that Randle dropped to LA. I think he's a nice prospect.

We have what many Blazer fans have hoped for years. Kobe Bryant is old and often injured. Hip hip hooray!!!!!

Maybe if you froze Kobe and Nash for 3-4 years while you waited to see Randle mature and what not AND Kobe and Nash had one more good year in them they might make the playoffs.

Lakers roster is trash. Outside Randle, no one really entices me on that roster. Kobe is washed, Nash is washed, Boozer is washed, Lin is overrated....Not a playoff team.
