To get Chris Paul? Like so many people on this forum want so bad?

I saw a post from another guy that traded Roy for Paul... and the lineup looks like this.

Paul
Fernandez
Batum
Aldridge
Oden

I mean, that is basically your championship Spurs team.

Paul is Parker
Rudy is Manu
Batum is Bowen
LMA is Duncan
Oden is Robinson

Would you now consider a trade that involved Roy and Paul? I never thought I would say this, but I think I would do it for that lineup. Rudy is more than capable of starting. I feel like with him starting, we don't lose that much with Paul running the team.

I dunno, thoughts?

LMAO. Aldridge is Duncan? Oden is Robinson? You're joking right?

No. I wouldn't trade Roy for Paul straight up.

ROY >>>>>> CP3

I love Roy, but that's so entirely wrong. Paul is the best point guard since Magic Johnson and, if he keeps this pace up for a normal length career, will be a top-three point guard of all-time.

Yeah, I'm just sayin that Roy is our guy. I wouldn't trade him straight up for anyone. He will bring us a championship, so people need to stop with the Chris Paul fantasy. It got old years ago.

I agree 100% with you. I also don't think CP3 is even in the top 10 all time PG's. He might someday but never IMO will be top 3. I like CP3 but he is way over rated. I think Roy will end up with the better career and win more championships.

Roy is a greedy cancer who's stalling contract talks.

To answer the question, considering our roster, I would swap Roy for Chris Paul. This should be a poll.

Sometimes I read shit that just makes me want to bang my head against a wall over and over and over ... Fortunately this isn't one of those times.

I'm staying with Roy on this one. We need an upgrade at PG, but I would much rather have my super-star at the 2.

I would strongly consider it, but I think it was my original idea.

I love Brandon, but would put CP3 above him. Especially considering Rudy could really step in. It would be a very balanced team.

Brandon is a great player who makes his teammates a little better.

CP3 is a great player who makes his teammates much much better.

Head says hell yes (due to talent, position, and durability issues), heart says no. I suppose if we can't extend Roy then both would say yes.

If Paul and Roy are more or less equals, and I think they are, I'd choose Roy for the additional versatility that his height advantage provides...

I'd think the goal should be trying to get Paul without giving up Roy. Offer them everything but the kitchen sink.

Paul, Posey, Butler
for
Rudy, Bayless, Batum, Outlaw, Webster, Blake

At the end of the day, you still have
1- Paul
2- Roy, Butler
3- Posey
4- LMA
5- Oden, Pryz

Fill in depth with whomever will take the league minimum a la the Celtics and enjoy the ride.

I don't know if the Hornets are that desperate yet, but they've got to be at least contemplating such a move in the back of their minds.

If possible, I'd also try to take back Stojakovic to sweeten it for New Orleans. They get to dump that terrible contract. Even then, though, I imagine New Orleans wouldn't consider it too seriously. But it would be amazing if Portland could pull off a deal like that.

I tried that, and I couldn't figure out how to take that much cash back without adding in another expensive player going back. I guess in the grand scheme of things Prz going back to the Hornets would be better for them than paying Peja, so perhaps that'd work. Still, I obviously agree; I don't think they'll consider trading Paul until they don't have a choice. Unfortunately for them, I figure that day is coming sooner or later.
