Meaning, of the last 3 years I mean.

I know a healthy Brandon Roy team is really good (54 wins) but I don't think that team was really complete. It was a lot of smoke and mirrors.

Last years team was a mish-mosh of players, and lost Brandon at the end.

This years team lost Brandon early, and adjusted and built on it. They didn't worry about Greg, and most importantly they got arguably the best "non star" player in Wallace.

My rationale:

The 54 win team had a Brandon Roy iso centered offense. They did have better 5 production, but their bench was pretty meh. Martel was injured, Travis was good but not smart, Nicolas played far fewer minutes, and Sergio and Jerryd was the backup PG's.

the positives: Brandon became a star. LaMarcus was solid, and Greg showed signs.

the negatives: Martel was nothing, Travis was kind of a SMF player, and our backup PG and SG's stunk

The 50 win team had (basically) no Joel, no Greg, no Travis, eventually limited Blake and in the end (the love you give..is equal too the love...er..) no backup PG. They lost Brandon late, and that threw a monkey in the wrench. They did get Camby, and he was a surprise. However, Rudy was a non factor for most of the season, Brandon was worse than the year before, and it took Nate waaaaay too long to realize Andre should've started. And they didn't have Batum for most of the season.

P: trading for Camby
N: All the injuries.

This year, while they didn't have Greg and Joel (pretty much), and their backup PG has been so-so the whole year, they did end up with a solid crew. Matthews is a surprise and strong, Batum is having a better season (still a little inconsistent), Andre is solid and Camby has been good (when he's played). They have had Roy as a non factor for most of the season, but Wesley and Rudy playing smarter and better than how the team would've been w/out Roy last year.

So the positives:
Adding Wesley and Wallace, for basically nothing, has been HUGE and key to my (horribly thought out) point.

Neg: No Greg and Joel (but Joel turned into a positive).

All in all, this years team is better overall than the other teams (not at their peak, but their production). Wallace and Matthews is better than ANY and all players traded off the team.

Another way to think of it, and maybe I should've said this at the start...which team with a semi-healthy Greg Oden would be the best? I don't think we can say "a healthy Brandon Roy" because he's less likely to get healthy knees and Greg could eventually get healthy knees.

Imho, this years team, with a healthy Greg Oden, is the best of the 3 teams.

We had a "Healthy" GO for the 54 win season. Although it does take almost two years to fully come back from micro fracture surgery.

:dunno:

Honestly, I would have to say we revisit this after the 1st round of the play-offs.

The fact that Wallace was added to the team late may negate the continued slippage in regular season record, but if they don't improve their play-off performance, there is really no reason to rate them as "better."
