I think it is. I don't see Okie State winning out and Bama and LSU play each other in 2 weeks. I think they finally get their chance.

I don't think so. It all boils down to strength of schedule and they simply don't have it. Georgia was a nice game, and they still have to play TCU, but that's about it. I still think BSU will have to move to an even stronger conference before they're taken seriously.

A 1-loss LSU, 'Bama, or even Oregon would likely jump BSU, and Stanford will as well if they beat USC and Oregon.

I guess we'll see. I don't think a 1-loss team should jump them.

Well, if the 1-loss is to 'Bama or to LSU, that's better than struggling to beat Air Force at home, IMO.

I think the SOS of Stanford, should they beat USC and Oregon, or a 1-loss Oregon, with wins against USC, Arizona State, Stanford, and ASU again in a conference title game, would mean either of those teams would jump over Boise.

Boise's final games are as follow:

@ UNLV (1-5)
TCU (5-2 with a home loss to SMU)
@ SDSU (4-2)
Wyoming (4-2 with a 63-19 loss to Utah State)
New Mexico (0-7)

Just a joke of a schedule left for Boise, and their computer average is going to take a big hit over the coming weeks.

On a related note, an article from the Salt Lake fishwrap about their introduction to Big Boy football.

One thing is clear: Utah isn't in the Mountain West Conference anymore. Things are much different in the Pac-12.

The Utes, however, insist they aren't suffering from culture shock.

"No. But there's a heckuva lot better athletes and level of play. There's no doubt about that and that's what we expected," Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said after Saturday's 34-10 loss to Cal at AT&T Park. "We're not sitting here surprised and thinking we didn't expect this. We expected this to be a very challenging, very difficult conference and it's proven to be exactly that."

yeah boise always starts out high and then as other teams play good teams down the stretch, their bcs ranking slowly dies

I think Boise St. will lose one game, to either TCU, SDSU, or maybe Wyoming. At least I hope so!

If the Ducks or even Cal had the cakewalk schedule that BSU has, they would go undefeated every year too.

I don't think so. I also don't think this is the best BSU team we've seen. I don't think they'll lose a game though.

Keep in mind it's mostly up to the human voters who account for 66% of the BCS rankings. If BSU wants a shot, they'll need to start winning with a heavier hand than they did on Sat.

Just off the top of my head I think BSU, LSU and Clemson win out. OK St should lose to OK. Stanford should lose to Oregon.

Players for Natty are:

LSU
Bama
Clemson
Stanford
BSU

how you gonna say that stanford loses to oregon and then has a shot at the natty? get yo game right

I think the Ducks have a shot at passing Clemson, simply because Clemson doesn't have a very strong schedule either. They've got Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, NC State, and South Carolina. Of those teams, only South Carolina is ranked, and they're around 14th or 15th in the polls. If we beat Stanford, that should give us a considerable boost in the rankings.

I think people put too much emphasis on SOS. The human voters have the majority of the say.

Clemson will have beat 4 ranked teams, 3 of those in the top 15. Oregon also plays 4 ranked teams with 2 of those being in the top 5. But, the loss speaks for itself.

I said Stanford should lose to Oregon (thus taking them out of the NC hunt). I finished my post with the team who are undefeated and currently fighting to get there. Sorry if that confuses you.

i accept your apology, although it came off as less than genuine

A less than genuine apology should never be accepted. I forgive you too, for being so easily confused.

To be fair, you didn't say "the players RIGHT NOW are:"

So maybe you shouldn't be so vague :devilwink:

I agree 100%. One game against a decent team and then tomato cans pretty much the rest of the way. By the time a team gets to the NC game they have played a minimum of 3 top 25 teams and a couple more who probably should be in the top 25.

BSU- maybe one.

Personally, I see the Alabama/LSU winner against Clemson, who has a very mediocre schedule this year unless Stanford beats Oregon (which my mind will not consider).

As to BSU, running the table is still noteworthy in any conference and although I disagree with them playing in any BCS game, that's a point I'll concede.

Somebody is giving BSU a #1 vote in the polls to keep their non existent SOS a boost. It's a joke.

I think they also played Florida State.

Yeah they did, but I was talking about the rest of their schedule. Funny thing is, Florida State turned out to be extremely overrated and is now out of the rankings entirely. What a joke the state of Florida turned out to be.

FSU seems to always be in the top 25 and then after 3 or 7 loses finally drops out. I can't think of any team (well, maybe Notre Dame) who gets the same treatment.

Well if Stanford beats us I think they'd jump Boise State in the BCS rankings. Assuming that doesn't happen it's possible that Alabama or LSU wont drop behind them either even with a loss.

this

they'll at least need the other undefeated teams ahead of them to lose... several of the one loss teams will likely jump them too.

Remember also that South Carolina was a beast team b/c of Marcus Lattimore. Now that he only has one non-shredded ACL, I think you'll see them decline in the standings and rankings.

Exactly. I think Clemson will slowly fall off as well.

I don't know if they will play the the title, but if they do over a 1 loss Alabama or Oregon team it is a travesty.

If Boise State is one of only 2 undefeated teams at the end of the season it will be a travesty if they don't play for the title. They beat a pretty good Georgia team in Atlanta and their MWC schedule is better than what they've been used to in the WAC. Kellen Moore will be winningest college quarterback of all-time as well. I think they would deserve the shot.
