It's not his arm.With all the hamstrings getting hurt in NY, I'm wondering if maybe we need a new strength and conditioning coach to show these boys how to stretch and, you know, make them do it.

There is no such thing as "Wood and Prior Syndrome" .....Prior is one of the poster boys of the Year-After Effect. A young pitcher who comes up to the league and pitches about 50 innings more then his previous professional high. His body couldn't handle such a drastic change in workload and got injured the next year....and every year since. And Kerry Wood, I don't know. He's just injury prone I suppose. If there was such a syndrome why hasn't Carlos Zambrano suffered the same fate? I think it's amazing that he got injured in the middle of a no-hit bid though. He had some great stuff last night, and out of nowheres he has a hamstring injury. Really a shame. I also have to wonder if it's a conditioning related problem though as a slew of injuries like this usually isn't normal. Especially to one specific body part.

Wood and Prior syndrome is a joke for someone with chronic arm/shoulder/elbow problems. Prior's injury problems are no doubt due to his heavy pounding in 2003. If you remember in 2004, Prior had elbow problems too. Wood has been destroyed also b/c of 1998 and 2003. The syndrome is for someone with chronic problems. I'm just as puzzled as you are as to why Zambrano has not broken down yet

Good call Vilma.</div>Things like torn rotator cuffs, ACL's, etc. have nothing to do with stretching. But things like hamstrings can be prevented with proper stretches and workouts. There is no excuse to have so many in such a short timespan. I remember when we hired our new strength and conditioning coach back in high school, and we did not have a single pulled muscle my last two years there. He knew what he was doing (the guy who was his mentor actually helps train players for the combine).

about 75% of our injuries have been hammys or quads!! im happy that that S&C coach was fired, apparebntly, the players thought that he wasnt careful enough with the muscles and im glad hes gone
