Give them a ton of credit for doing so against a great TB team (and for making the SC semis in back to back years). I don't think they'll win game 7, but anything can happen in one game, especially a game 7. I hate the Isles, but I have to respect what they have done last season and this season.

You are an idiot. There’s playing tough and then there’s playing dirty and cheap. The Islanders played dirty and cheap. The amount of cross checks that Stamkos took at the end of the period was ridiculous. The amount of charging calls that Clutterbuck and Martin should have gotten is insane. It is one thing to be a gritty, hard nosed team. It’s a total different thing to try to injure players on purpose like the Islanders did last night.
And this isn’t even discussing the piece of shit Barzal and how he got away with a CLEAR suspension of a hit that Buch did in fact get suspended for. The NHL wants this to go 7. They don’t care at what costs. And the Isles better hope they don’t see the Canadiens or else they’ll be screwed because the way things look, it seems as if it’s setting up for the NHL to gift Montreal a Cup.

I’m angry that there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to NHL officiating or rules or suspending of players. Good for the Isles on taking advantage and HURTING other players I guess. I mean, if that’s what you are applauding then for, which it seems like it is, give them all the kudos in the world. 20 years ago they would be just another NHL team. In today’s game however, they should be getting penalized for this shit but as they aren’t, they are skating around actively trying to hurt players. And this is why I will continue to say that the NHL is the worst run league in all of sports (yes, after baseball even with its new implementation of pitchers and sticky substances) and has, hands down, the worst commissioner in the world.

I think the officiating and league discipline this year all around has been the worst I can remember. I agree. You can call a cross checking penalty on Mayfield almost every shit. A charging penalty on Clutterfuck almost every shift. They never stop because nobody calls shit on them. It's essentially why I have watched so few playoff games. I watched that game last night and felt like I was watching 3 Tom Wilson's on the Islanders but they don't get called for anything.

I agree the NHL player safety team is a joke. George Parros is a joke. It has been that way for years. Inconsistent rulings, inconsistent suspensions, they are way too focused on did a player get hurt (as if it's okay to do something really bad as long as no one gets hurt).

So yeah they are a joke. And yeah the Isles go over the line, and again I hate them for it. But if they are getting away with it, and winning and making long playoff runs, should we blame the Isles for that? If the Rangers did it, and got away with it, we'd love it. The NHL and their terrible discipline group are to blame, not the Isles.

I think you guys are misplacing your anger. It should be with the NHL, not the Isles for playing the game and getting away with it - smart by them if they can get away with it. Hate the game not the player.

And as far as TB and Kucherov go, not happy he is hurt, but I am happy he is missing game 7. TB totally played the cap this year and held Kucherov out of the regular season to afford other players (they would have been way over the cap had the activated Kucherov in the regular season - and he practiced for weeks before the playoffs). Just like with the Isles, I say if the NHL let TB get away with it shame on the NHL, but it doesn't mean I won't smile a little when they now have to play without Kucherov in game 7. Karma...

Nobody's angry here but complimenting the Fishsticks for hurting key players on the B's and Bolts without even having a penalty called is only something a guy who never laced up cleats, spikes or skates would applaud - to each his own I guess. As a hockey fan I 100% agree with 94, the NHL has been bush league with their inconsistent, selective enforcement of dangerous play this year. I guarntee the NHL hands out suspensions on all plays if the offender was wearing the Blueshirt but bush leagues operate that way.

I agree with you guys, the NHL is a joke on discipline and always has been PERIOD. No one is arguing that at all. It is double, triple, quadruple standards all over the NHL. But to discredit the Isles for making back to back SC semis, and taking a great TB team to game 7, because the NHL discipline team is a joke, is quite frankly ridiculous. If the Rangers were doing what the Isles were you guys would be loving it.

I hate the NHL discipline, hate the Isles, but give them credit for doing what they have to do to win, and if they are getting away with it good for them. No one is applauding the Isles for injuring players, that's ridiculous. I am giving them credit for playing their style of hard nose hockey, pushing the limits, and when they do cross the line - as ALL teams do - I do not believe they are trying to injury anyone - if the NHL and their terrible discipline team doesn't hold them accountable, that's on the NHL not the Isles.

Isles played a really solid series against a great team. Tough L for them, but overall they had a solid season, and have had two good runs the past two post-seasons. It will be interesting to see if they can take that last step forward and get past TB, or if they will fade back. I'd guess the deciding factor will be how much of their team can they keep together. Also going into a new building next season.

I hate the Isles, but they are in a good window right now. Good time to be an Isles fan. We'll see if that continues.

Hajek who I actually think is on the verge of being a really good third pair guy if he gets a decent partner. Howden who sucks. A first used on Lundkvist who is a stud prospect and a second on Henriksson who sucks ass at the moment.

And even more important it freed up the salary cap. As much as we all over McD, the team knew their window was closing and it wasn't going to be smart to tie up cap space with him.

Could we have received more...perhaps but most felt at the time it was a good haul for us.

Hajek played really well but most of our fan base ignored it. He's a great skater. He's still very young. McDonagh struggled here as the team got worse. Happy for him big time. He was a total class act and never took games off. I hope he wins another cup. That being said Lundkvist is legit. Problem is with Fox, Trouba and Schneider, I don't see a spot for him. He's 5'11. Size matters on defense. I'd absolutely use him in a deal for a Tkachuk. Even a Horvat. No slight on him. We just can't have 5'11 defenseman all over our roster.

The worst thing about the NHL's approach to discipline is the effect it will have on youth hockey, kids watching the games are being taught that if a pro can't deal with an opponent who has more skill, cross check and elbow him into submission. Chickencluck hides behind Boomer's son in law or the 3rd man in rule whenever he has to answer for his bs. Hopefully we can get back to watching hockey instead of Slapshot (a great movie btw).
