Holman on top early in Malaysia
Melbourne’s Nathan Holman is at it again – this time leading the Maybank Championship Malaysia.
The Golf Australia rookie squad member, already riding high after winning the Australian PGA Championship in December, leads at Royal Selangor after shooting a seven-under-par 64 in round one.
Holman, 24, is fresh from a week off after three consecutive top-35 finishes in his maiden European Tour season put him in 10th position in the tour’s lucrative season-long Race to Dubai.

Nomura in tie for 3rd at ISPS Handa Australian Open
Japan's Harukyo Nomura shot a 4-under-par 68 to sit one stroke behind the second-round leaders at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open on Friday.
Starting the day in 10th, Nomura carded five birdies and one bogey to move into a four-way tie for third at 7-under-137 at the par-72 Grange Golf Club. England's Holly Clyburn and Scotland's Catriona Matthew share the lead.

Ko coping with increased scrutiny in victory or defeat
Lydia Ko’s back in the crosshairs again.
That’s what life is like when you’re the Rolex world No. 1 and you put yourself in position to win almost every week. Ko moved into position yet again Saturday at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, climbing one shot off the lead going into the final round.
If Ko wins, it’s another big story. It would be her second victory in a row and her fifth in her last 10 worldwide starts.
If she doesn’t win, it’s a big story, too.

Yet, here she is — this Scottish mum-of-two, a tour veteran at 46, celebrating two decades since her maiden professional win at the 1996 Women’s Australian Open by bouldering over a mountain of kids to the top of the leaderboard at the 2016 championship in Adelaide.

That's a position with which Ko will have little familiarity after yet another fruitful week on and off the course, following her victory at last weekend's New Zealand Open by being named Young New Zealander of the Year on Wednesday and winning the Halberg for Sportswoman of the Year the following night.
But Ko was denied the chance to cap her week with more glory after Japan's Haru Nomura played an astonishing final round to consign Ko to second at The Grange Golf Club in Adelaide.
