Just listened to a panel on C-Span talk about Police accountability. Most panel members were black people
and most of those were right there with BLM.

One fellow though, an ex police Chief (the only white guy) was talking a different tune, seems like the one I have been (unsuccessfully) trying to get you guys to hear. It is a broken system not so much bad cops but a system, that sets the wrong expectation of behavior by the police, trains them in the wrong procedures. It doesn't matter much whether it is a white cop or Black cop when instructed go about the job incorrectly.

Seems like he has been reading my posts. Well now he is in a police think tank, perhaps he can do some good.

Uniformity is your key word. Will all police departments protect and serve or are there biased divisions and individuals? It would be difficult to alter their attitudes towards the general public. I work in a municipality and know a lot of police. All in all they are normal and down to earth but there is no doubt they have a us vs. them motto. As long as obedience and respect towards the officer is relative in a stop, all would go well. There are rotton eggs. Guys that wear that uniform but have their troubles in the pockets. One, in particular had a rep for being sarcastic and had attitude linked to that negative demeanor. The one issue that will put a rotton cop in place is a lawsuit. Our department had a taste of that. The chief is a great guy and did not tolerate that behavior after the summons was issued to his own. All of these guys can snap because they are trained and deal in the dirty business of constantly conducting their activities with elements of suspecion.

I don't know how the hell they can do it day after day. But I also think the expectations of how they are to control some situations is too heavy, puts them at too much risk which produces the wrong results.

I don't know why you love it? It seems irrelevant. But I do gather you like empathy to be the message, to hell with logic.
