But what if he demands a trade tomorrow? The blazers will be left high and dry! Damn you, KP!

Did they mentioned how bitter he was that it took so long?

Yeah, because I know I'd be bitter if my employer gave me a guaranteed contract for the maximum allowable salary.

Geez people, he got a max contract extension. What's there to be bitter about? It's not like he was standing in the unemployment line not knowing if he was going to be able to put food on the table or meet this month's rent payment.

All this means is that Aldridge is simmering and will probably not sign this off-season, take the qualifying offer next season and then explore the free agent market in 2011.

Thanks a lot, Pritchard. Your ego drove you to sign Roy which will cause Aldridge to want money. :(

These things are complicated and they take time . . .

No, I'm pretty sure the Blazers just had to slide him a near-blank piece of paper that read "Max Contract" on the top, with an 'X' at the bottom for Roy to sign his signature. Probably handwritten. The whole thing shouldn't have taken over five seconds.

Negotiations?

He got a full max deal, what was there to negotiate?

He wanted a player option on the fifth year, which is a benefit to him and a detriment to the team. If this extension doesn't have that player option, then that's what the negotiations yielded for Portland.

Nice!

LOL

Actually, Aldridge wants 70 million for 5 years. That seems in line with what Portland was thinking as well.

At 12.5% raises, the Blazers could start his salary under 10 and get there I think.

Serious? Do I really have to spell out the word "sarcasm" for you? How could you possibly think I was serious?

True sports fan. Never in a million years will we ever admit we were wrong. We can spin it for days.
Pinwheel1 for threeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee IT'S GOOD!

Thank you Pinwheel1 for owning the Roy contract doubters.

First of all, there is no owning of anyone. Most thought it would get done, and some thougt it was insane that it wasn't done right away. Roy is a top 10 player in the league, and despite what some say, there was nothing to negotiate. You keep those players as long as they want to stay on your team.

Having it take this long might have cost us Hedo. Like him or not, it was KP's first choice, and Roy and Aldridge both would have helped recruit him had they been signed, or had negotiations went well enough prior to the signing period.

Aldridge taking this long is understandable. Roy taking this long was dumb.

Spin. LOL.

You know very well that Roy was not a factor here. Although maybe LaMarcus could have taken Mrs. Turk out for a ride through the city.

I've heard rumors that LaMarcus is threatening to stay in Europe and play for Spain.

Absence of smilies, maybe? :dunno: (see how that aids comprehension for the short bus crowd:devilwink:)

As for sarcasm, Boob can dish it fairly well but rarely can he detect it.

That wasn't even necessarily directed at ya man more at a couple of other far more obnoxious poster then yourself. "Owning" in the parlance of the times, crude though it may be, means to basically win, and even maul an opponent or opponents, in a video game or in this case a forum posting.

Sorry MM, but you and a few other posters such as Senor blockparty were very vociferous about how this could cost us Roy and would become a team cancer. Other folks, like myself, contended that this whole thing was a leverage over LMA move. Roy now sits with a max-year, max money contract just as most of us said would be the case. This would lead one to conclude that perhaps the assertion that "the Roy situation is actually a move to get leverage over LMA" is in fact one with merit.

No offense man, but you were wrong about this point. I was trying to be funny in the other post so there it is sans humor.

i have to admit i tried to add the smile and it went to the wrong place.

I seriously doubt either one really wanted him here. Roy said all we needed was to stand pat and add a backup PF to get boards and defend.

That's madness to me that he doesn't want to improve the point a bit. It would take CP3 to take away from him what he does, so why NOT want an upgrade? PF backup is huge as well agree with Roy there.

I think Roy wanted Sergio gone. Pure speculation on my part. :ghoti:

Because several posters on this forum have been ranting non-stop for the past two weeks about how these negotiations are "alienating our superstar", about how KP is going to screw this up, like he has everything else this summer, etc. Sorry to jump to the conclusion that you are one of the nattering nabobs of negativity. It's hard to keep them all straight. All the negative energy on this board lately is taking the fun out of participating here. I think I need a break.
