Politics It's gonna get awful quiet in here by the far Right in two weeks

Welcome to our community

It's that you, in the year 2020, don't realize why posting a picture of "smoke signals" and talking in broken English that is 100% based on a racist trope of how Native Americans spoke in movies/tv shows/radio/etc is 100% cringeworthy.

Hate it for ya.

It's kind of like still using the words gay and retarded NOW, because you grew up using them and not learning and becoming a better person.

Ps. I will edit this if anyone doesn't like those words written out. It felt gross typing them honestly, but when I typed "G" word and "R" word, it just didn't seem to work.
I get feeling gross about writing out "retarded", but "gay" is still used harmlessly all the time so it seems weird to feel gross typing it out. By itself, "gay" is not a slur or offensive. It's only offensive when it's used in certain context, which you were only alluding to. It would make more sense to me if you were talking about the "f" word that I definitely would feel gross about writing out, even though it was used constantly when I was growing up.

It's a weird case of having to "pwn the libs".

That's one of the biggest things that is a difference between conservatives and liberals/progressives.

hardcore conservatives will support their guy at their own expense, as long as it "pwns" someone else. Liberals will eat their own, because well, we're kind of disorganized and fractured, which leads us to a lot of infighting and confusion.

See: Bernie Bros and how fucking idiotic they are about the 2016 election.

Also see: Democrats blaming the election of Trump almost entirely on "Bernie Bros"

That you get all cringeworthy.

You seem to not understand what the issue is. We don't get all cringeworthy, what you're SAYING is cringeworthy.

It's a polite way of saying "you are coming off as someone who is oblivious to how racist you sound and ignorant of other peoples feelings or life story".

The big takeaway from this is you trying to turn the tables onto the person who is talking to you A: doesn't work and B: doesn't actually make you look any better. The only thing it does is make you look foolish and ignorant.

And I really wish this the was the only time you've done this. This is a regular occurance with you. Like the old saying goes, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me again, shame on me".

No one is buying your act.

There is no issue. Kimosabe is not a racist term. As to the smoke signals? Hard to say. Me thinks it was advanced technology of the times.

I'm hoping you aren't implying that is what I did there, because I wasn't.

I wasn't implying that, just wanted to mention it as another example because it does still happen often and speaks to your point.

I'm not sure why you keep avoiding what the issue people have is. It's the "me" pigeon english that is the issue, not "Kimosabe".

You should really look into the whole concept of cultural appropriation and black face and why certain terms, while not offensive to white people, might be offensive to people of color.

I've already cited some other resources and commented, accordingly.

Can every thread with @ABM stop becoming a a referendum on if he's racist? Anyone with at least two brain cells knows the answer to that, and we don't need to keep on litigating it.

Back on topic again.... they''re not going quietly. If this happened in Egypt or Turkey, the State Department would be on the ground regulating their election. Yet the GOP and their sychophants keep on ignoring the obvious.

My cousin chnged her middle name, 'Gay', because of the change in meaning.

I'm confused as to why so many GOPers are afraid of people voting.

@ABM are you ok with Trump trying to invalidate peoples votes?

I'm confused as to why so many GOPers are afraid of people voting.
They're not GOP who are actually doing this stuff. They're Trump sympathizers, who are of the Sarah Palin, Tea Party ilk who blindly follow their dear leader's orders. The GOP is enabling it because they need the same voters. Think there is a distinction between the two groups.

The racist tripe some folks have been spewing about me in here is rather boorish, if not laughable. Flat out, the epicenter of all that rubbish is the simple fact that I support Trump. Period. I'm not going to be led by the nose by a bunch of left-wing intellectuals who seeming want to define for me everything I should, or should not, say/believe/espouse or otherwise.

As it pertains to the word, Kemosabe, who's really to say the term is racist, or not. Shoot, it doesn't show up in Native Circle. Heh, I'm going with them. Nuf said:

http://www.nativecircle.com/learning-respect.html

Plus, Kemosabe is/was used to identify a trusted friend. Where's the racism there?

https://www.outsidethebeltway.com/yahoo_news_-_who_was_that_masked_man/

Would you call for the shut down of this Denver apparel store?

https://kemosabe.com/

And, please, don't trot out the fact that I've cited Candace Owens and others (i.e.1776 Unites; Blaxit; Woodson Center, etc.) as those who don't fall in line with the BLM movement to be misconstrued as me somehow being racist. BLM is just one of many movements out there. They certainly aren't the be all, end all on the matter. There are counters to some of their approaches.

Again this tactic is so Trumpian! STOP! I shouldn't have to even say it! Kemosabe is a word. I'm not talking about kemosabe. However, using broken English and smoke signals is awful and racist.

It seems mighty ingrained with you. And I really shouldn't say a word, but your worldview gets under my skin...

You might as well have written @Propagandist. Haha.

I will try and I'm sorry, but it's so hard! It's an everyday thing with this guy! And if things go Trump tomorrow or whenever, I expect it'll get a lot worse.

I kind of disagree with this

it was the entire post....the combination of kimosabe, pidgin english, smoke signals. Any single thing, by itself, would have been innocuous

but it was his decision of putting all those components together that sunk his post to the level of ignorance and racism that has generated all this back and forth

I can respect thats your take on it. To me, if it was the first time he said something like that, I would agree that's it was pretty innocuous.

Heh, I may as well have followed with, what say you?

Darned tootin'.

Conversations (or whatever one might call them) can get down right laughable in here.

The list goes on. I'll try and do better next time...
