Exclusive It's Leaking Already

When I gave you the chance to clarify your response(instead of be sarcastic)

Where the hell was I being sarcastic? Every single answer I've given here has been serious. Is that your problem? You think I'm being sarcastic?

What is there to be sarcastic about? It's a fucking leak. It is unrealistic to expect a pipeline to never leak. Where's the sarcasm in that answer?

you choose to take it as I'm making assumptions

In your first response to me, you said:

Not at all, I'd just like for people to take responsibility for their actions.
By not attempting to minimize the impact 84 gallons of oil leaking has on the environment. All because thousands of gallons move through it daily.

Which, as I said above, you covered it nicely by saying:

Not saying you are responsible for the 84 gallons leaking.

No shit I'm not responsible.

The second part of your post went on to say:

I hope you're not saying oil companies or the people who monitor oil companies are above corruption...

Which is an implied assumption. So that's 2 of them: 1) assuming that I was trying to minimize a leak, and 2) that I believe oil companies to be above corruption.

And nowhere have I said either of those things. Those were ASSUMPTIONS on your part. That is what I'm trying to explain to you.

My POINT in all of my posts have been to simply confirm reality: pipes leak/develop leaks. That's a fact of life. Anyone who assumed that the Dakota Pipeline would be completely leak-free is an absolute fool.

Either way it looks like we're both wrong due to a failure to communicate.

I guess? I REALLY wasn't being sarcastic about anything.

People, I'm simply looking at things rationally here instead of resorting to Oil/Trump/Republican/Conservative hate (which I am NOT saying is what @honkicracker was doing; I'm simply speaking to the general attitude of many on the Left).

84 gallons of oil leaking = "Fuck Trump! Fuck Conservatives!" Makes zero sense to me. It's a fucking pipe with a small leak. Politics has nothing to do with that. That pipe was there long before Trump got to office. And Conservatives don't actually have a magic Jesus Wand that they wave around to make bad things happen to a pipeline.

Will end the conversation there because this isn't worth it to me.

Whatever. I hope I've explained things properly now. It just really annoyed the fuck out of me that you were assuming things about my posts that weren't true.

Alright, it's settled. Let's move on.

Fuck ran out on mortar THIS close to being done. Oh well, get to go drive the little yellow go kart. image000000_05.jpg

Cheap fake wood spanish made tile. Wonder how much oil was spilled getting it here?

I'm sure dude's truck gets 80 mpg. Hope it's a work truck. I want a truck because I like them but I can't justify a 17mpg vehicle for my commute and the occasional Costco trip. My focus gets worse mileage than I expected but it is 14 years old so I just kept a neat car out of the junkyard and nobody had to make me a new one.

Who needs a truck????View attachment 14306

There were 8 boxes of tile under the cement board. Looked good lower.View attachment 14307

I'm so jealous. I've wanted an SVT Focus for so long. Is it pretty fast?

Honki,

I think the point is, if one is to get up in arms about an oil spill, aren't there many other ways we use oil that is much more of an impact to the environment than the quoted story that would garner such emotion?

Where is the thread about the new lane being added to the freeway and how much pollution goes into CREATING that lane with the machinery, not to mention what is actually in the asphalt.
Ever work for the DOT? Or know anyone that does? The fumes around those machines can make you sick!

Smell heavy traffic on the freeway in 90% weather and it reeks.

We all want/strive for perfection, but to demand it is simply unrealistic and will lead to a life of constant disappointment. Trust me. It's something I struggle with. How to be at peace with less than perfection.
But man. Shit happens you know? Everything is in constant movement and as harmonious as it is, it is not perfection. Or it is an imperfect perfection. Things are going to collide. Shit is gonna break.
Mother Nature is not controllable and mostly not predictable.
This is life.

Well said, thank you.

When I worked security, I was assigned to many construction sites over the years, including housing subdivisions. If people saw the pollution and garbage that construction companies put into the soil while building their cozy homes, they would be fucking appalled. I was utterly shocked at the sight of the first subdivision I visited while it was under construction: the sheer amount of trash on the ground that they buried under the soil was disappointing to say the least.

And let's not forget the natural habitat that many booming rural subdivisions are destroying that nobody seems to give a fuck about. I personally saw a skunk habitat in Hillsboro decimated. And believe me: coming across a pissed off skunk while patrolling a subdivision at 1 in the morning is not a fun experience.

But oh.....let's get mad at a contained leak in a pipe and blame it on Conservatives.

People hate Trump and Conservatives SO MUCH that they just want something to bitch and moan about to tie it to them.

Look closer to home folks, and trust me: you'll fine plenty of more immediate things to be pissed off about.

Dude. That looks really good. I've been redoing the tile in a shower (after I replaced the rotted out wood). I HATE doing the grout work (along with drywall mud). Fricken give me 5 or 10 gallons of Bondo though, and I can fix this shit....

It's slower than shit but I've had Ls1 camaros and 455 powered Oldsmobiles in the past. It's still a blast to drive and I paid 1600 for it and have probably put a 1000 bucks in it including the stereo. I just did the fuel pump last week and it drives like a new car, no more random surging or stumble.

Thanks, I don't use a headboard because my feet hang off a bed if I do. So, the paint on that wall looked black yet shiny from my arms rubbing on it. I was going to paint the wall and buy a headboard anyway but I bought the cheapest tile they had that looked ok and I'll have about 300 bucks in the whole thing.

The charger looks like the center section is relatively intact. I can fix it with part of a gallon of filler .....and 80 thousand dollars in parts. Assuming oem of course, just buy me a used car and give me a few months and it will be good as new.

By center section I mean the frame rails and floor. As long as I can get it on a frame rack it is fixable.

The majority of "pipeline construction projects" that take place are actually replacement of old lines. When people get up in arms about these projects they are actually thwarting preventative maintenence and facilitating future leaks and other problems. Oil has to be transported and pipelines are the safest way, period. What do people want? To put it on a train that burns a thousand gallons of diesel and have it come barreling through your town?

Idiots love to hold up signs in protest of anything with the word "oil" associated with it. Thats what this boils down to. Why are people protesting THE SAFEST AND LEAST ENVIRONMENTALLY IMPACTFUL MEANS OF PETROLEUM TRANSPORT??? It makes zero fucking sense. Ive mapped existing pipelines as a land surveyor and guess what? They are pretty fucking hard to spot. The deer and antelope dont seem to mind them either, at least it doesn't seem like it when they are standing above them grazing. There are extensive reclamation efforts associated with pipeline construction. Most of the people who protest these things live in cities thousands of miles away. And as for the "good people of Bismarck ND"?? They support the pipeline and all of the economical benfits it brings. Its the professional protesters from LA, San Fran, Portland (sorry) and Seattle who have the problems with it...you know, the people who flew over here with their trust fund money, made a huge mess and then left.

What it boils down to is that they make money off it so they don't want to spill it. Duh

Buy this, I'm thinking of buying it so it doesn't get fucked up. It would be better for it to stay here where it won't rust but I'll let you have it if you garage it.

If you spill $500,000 of oil and are granted $1,000,000 to repair a $250,000 problem you still profit 25%... Small apples, but none the less a look into the thoughts of someone corrupted by greed.

I'm not even sure I want to know how that works. If my grandma just had veto power over the bullshit that goes on.........

Oil companies face massive fines for contamination. Last time i checked they weren't handing out grants for fucking up.

I'd take one but it'd ruin the car in a way. Slowing for corners in mine is just to keep you from spilling coffee.
Yeah, I understand what you're saying. A buddy of mine put a V8 in a 240Z. Made what was a perfectly balanced car, a mess to handle in the corners.

Yeah, a 3rd gen Rx7 is the perfect car to swap an aluminum LS motor into. Weighs about the same as the wankel.
