It's looking like Adams, and I'm okay with that

Technically if Adams has a higher ceiling than Zeller then wouldn't that make him the "BPA" as it were?

IDK. That's why BPA is not an exact science by any means. Ceiling is based on potential, and potential is not guaranteed.

I'm not a fan of drafting projects in the new CBA, if they don't pan out you wasted a draft spot that that should have been a rotational player, if they do pan out you have to give them a fat contract as a RFA.

You want guys who are NBA ready so they provide great value relative to their small rookie contract.

A very good argument to trade down and take Dieng!

So it's looking just about a lock that Sacramento takes McCollum and Minnesota takes KCP. A lot of people have settled on Adams for us, and I'm actually okay with that. The downside: we took Leonard last year and this is a bit of an indictment of that pick. But so what? I've been indicting that pick all year. Besides which, Leonard grew up playing guard so he has guard skills (at least shooting-wise) but plays small. Meanwhile, Adams grew up playing rugby, so he's used to bouncing people around, and he plays D. Scalabrine, who worked out with Adams (see video), compared him with his ex teammate Omer Asik (who we drafted, of course), and that would be awesome. Plus: he's only 19, supposedly (according to Chad Ford) he got exponentially better as the year went on, and he's an awesome bloke, according to everyone who's spoken to him - Flight of the Conchords humor.

So. If Leonard is our Will Perdue (also in the video below) and Adams is our Luc Longley, we just need a Canadian to be our Bill Wennington.

Snicker snicker

Adams had 10 pts and 15 rebounds for the Thunder tonight. But we didn't need him because we had Leonard.

I thought there was some rationale for why the Blazers did that trade or something or wait, what?

I hate how people bring up stuff, just cause somebody has a good game. Who was the guy who the Spurs got and everybody was pissed off about......Blair. Guy doesn't even fucking play anymore.

Okay, okay! I'll stop! It just hurts more because it was the Thunder that got him. I don't mind missing out on Schroder or Antetokounmpo because they went to sad-sack teams.

I do hate the Thunder! Never wish injuries on anybody, but I'm glad to welcome them to OUR club.

Adams was my 1b with McCollum so I'm not complaining about the pick - Steven looks legit and probably should have gone a lot higher.

His defensive awareness stands out. In this regard, he's a totally different player now than he was at Pitt.

Eerily similar to Drummond and his one year at UConn.

I see an athletic Nikola Pekovic in Steven Adams, only much bigger.

The anti-Meyers Leonard.

He played a helluva lot more and better than Jeff Pendergraph and Dante Cunningham, and for a championship team. He's currently backing up Nowitzki in DAL. Last game had 10 boards in 18 minutes.

Adams is putting up crazy numbers in preseason.

So, add him to the list of players who we regret passing on to take CJ. What with this and Nolan Smith, maybe they should outsource the drafting to this board.

I love his game. He has a great feel on both ends and started about 5/6 fights last year. That has to be a rookie record. He already sets some mean Bill Laimbeer screens.

Full disclosure -- I had Adams 1b with CJ on draft day. I thought CJ was a lock to go to Detroit or Minnesota. I was fully expecting Adams to be the guy.

I was really surprised looking back at that draft. I didn't think that any of the centers in mid first round would be good. But Adams, Dieng, Gobert, and Plumlee are all good. I would love to have any of them.

So you think CJ sucks?

Look at the first round after our pick:

10. Trail Blazers C.J. McCollum PG
11. 76ers Michael Carter-Williams PG
12. Thunder Steven Adams C
13. Mavericks Kelly Olynyk PF
14. Jazz Shabazz Muhammad SF (lost a lot of weight, still selfish)
15. Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo SF
16. Celtics Lucas Nogueira C (awesome 'fro)
17. Hawks Dennis Schroeder PG (looked good for Germany, improving his shot)
18. Hawks Shane Larkin PG
19. Cavaliers Sergey Karasev SG
20. Bulls Tony Snell SF (looked great in Summer League)
21. Jazz Gorgui Dieng C
22. Nets Mason Plumlee C (obviously better than Damian)
23. Pacers Solomon Hill SF
24. Knicks Tim Hardaway Jr. SG (not a fan, but he puts up points in bunches)
25. Clippers Reggie Bullock SG
26. Timberwolves Andre Roberson SF
27. Nuggets Rudy Gobert C
28. Spurs Livio Jean-Charles PF (still in Europe, but was the MVP of the Nike World game)
29. Thunder Archie Goodwin SG
30. Suns Nemanja Nedovic SG

There's a LOT of good players there. Looks like OKC actually picked up TWO starters, as Roberson is playing well as their starting 2G now.
They did say that that draft was weak at the top but deep.
Atlanta fans are mad: they had two shots at Dieng and didn't get him. I still love Schroder, but they've already unloaded Nogueira to Toronto.

Because it's you posting, I asked myself, "What country is Steven Adams from?"

I'd still take Olynyk over both. I think CJ will do some good things this year, he just needs to stay healthy.

A guy I really like this year has looked good for OKC as well.. Mitch McGary. Solid player.

He's an unrestricted FA next year, and the Thunder have already maxed Kanter, and will also have a new-max Durant, Westbrook, and possibly Ibaka, who is also a FA that year.

He's restricted. CJ was one pick ahead of Adams.
