Santorum to suspend his campaign tomorrow.

I was hoping this day wouldn't come, honestly. I dread another term of Obama, but I don't think any of the GOP candidates can beat him.

write in vermin supreme, or vote for the evil of two lessers

Denny just put the Ron Paul 2016 lawn sign out in front of his house.

Santorum is a big government social conservative who seemed more concerned with ending porn than economic issues. He had zero chance, and the only reason he was still around is because the more legitimate GOP candidates other than Romney clobbered each other early in the race.

What other candidates are you talking about?

Rick Perry
Chris Christie
Mitch Daniels
Tim Pawlenty

Successful governors who either fizzled out early (Perry and Pawlenty) or didn't run (Christie and Daniels). You knew Pawlenty wasn't going anywhere in the race when in his first week as a candidate he told a crowd in Iowa that he wanted to end their ethanol corn subsidies. His "I only tell the truth" shtick, while refreshing, was just too honest to work.

its like needles come through grapes now, and I refuse to eat 2,000 beans to build trust in these crazy cyborgs

This is the single greatest moment in political history, though I think they should have put Colbert's bald eagle in at the end of it.

"I am Ammuurrriiiccaaa!"

this "race" has been wrapped up for years, follow the money

and rick perry

It's early April. The significance of this, IMO, is that Romney can spend all the rest of the money he raises (and has raised so far that's left) addressing Obama. The general premise of the ads I foresee is "Obama's a good guy, over his head as president."

Romney/Palin 2012

LOL . . . and deer in the headlights Romney is just the guy who has a handle on all this.

The extra few hundred $million he gets to raise and spend against Obama won't hurt. That kind of money got our president elected last time.

Romney/Palin 2012

Romney (and the republicans) would be wise to steer as far away from Palin as humanly possible.

So, you're predicting Romney/Palin 2012

No, I think they learned from their mistake. She's too polarizing, kind of a dingbat, and will help sink their boat.

when was the last time a LOSING VP ran for VP after they lost the first time?

Mondale and Geraldine...she didn't run again.

Dukakis and Benstein. He didn't run again.

Bush and Quayle. He didn't run again (he actually WAS VP so that's not exactly the same).

Dole and Kemp, Gore and Lieberman, Kerry and Pervert boy who sees dead people...

none of them ran again for VP (or President actually).

I don't think they'll buck the trend. she knows that her money making scams are done with Fox News and her "tours", not as VP.

i predict romney/someone overwhelmingly unabashedly christian in 2012

Dole was Gerald Ford's running mate in 1976.
Nixon was Ike's VP, lost to Kennedy, then was elected in 1968.

Romney/Rubio has a nice ring to it.

Rubio would help attract hispanic voters, and also give Romney a better chance of winning Florida.

Here's my VP prediction:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susana_Martinez

According to her 2010 gubernatorial campaign website, Martinez is pro-life and is opposed to elective abortion. She supports parental notification laws for minors under 13-years-old who seek an abortion. She is also opposed to same-sex marriage. Martínez supports a balanced budget and lower government spending. She favors putting taxpayer money into a rainy day fund, and refunding taxpayers to attempt to stimulate growth.
Martínez has promised to revamp the state's education plan by investing in private education.[20] She will seek to repeal state laws that provide illegal immigrants access to driver’s licenses as well as deny children of illegal immigrants access to higher education through the New Mexico Lottery Scholarship.[21] Martinez opposes New Mexico's medical marijuana program, but has indicated that repealing New Mexico's existing law is not a priority.[22]

But she has claimed she would refuse, maybe she knows Mitt is going to lose and doesn't want to tie herself to him.

True (although Dole waited 20 years)

And GHW Bush was the first sitting VP to be elected prez since Coolidge.

Obama will get over 60% of the popular vote if Romney is his only opposition.

The Repubs seem to be deliberately throwing the race. It seems inconceivable that they have nobody qualified to run for President, but they've only offered up their weakest links for slaughter.

Obama wasnt qualified. Romney has way more experience than obama had...much more. This is just a diversionary meme from the left.

....

I'm still of the opinion that we're best off with divided government. I'd be satisfied if Obama wins and the house and senate are republican. Our best hope is gridlock, as GDP and jobs growth since republicans took the House indicate.

The only problem with this is that Obama doesn't seem to care about the constitution. He'll appoint (unelected!) guys to do damage by fiat and regulation. The best hope we have is that can be minimized somehow.
