Yeah I have a Subaru and I want no part of driving in this shit. Ice is ice.

I can still get my wifes Q5 with blizzaks controlled sliding on the ice. :-) Hell I roll up to the mountain every weekend (for the last 15 yrs) to ride and while I can rally like Ken Block in the snow, when its just hard ice that's a different story. Studless helps a ton, but you still have to drive ultra careful, SPECIALLY making sure you watch for other people using their all-seasons or summers.

Over 50 here in Bandon. Suppose to be bright and sunny with highs near 60 later this week.

So damn nice and calm on the bar and ocean today, I wanted to leave for So Cal. Can't though, Basketball practice starts Wednesday.

Look me up when your ready. I can help you.

Not only do you hand out guns, but alcohol too? Party at MarAzul's tonight!

Ha! No, I imagine Sly gets all of every evil thing he needs without needing my help.

a couple of icy spots on the way into work this morning downtown NE PDX. be careful.

Do they not salt the roads or something? Ice?

How does an inch of snow shut down a city?

I grew up in OR and realized how inept and inadequate ODOT is at handling winter weather when I went to school in the midwest/east coast. Haven't heard of the use of chains on regular streets anywhere else. Kinda funny.

No, they do not salt the roads. And the people here do NOT know how to drive in winter weather. ALSO adding the fact that most people here don't purchase proper tires for their vehicle, for the state they reside in.

Everyone in Oregon should be using some sort of good All-Season/winter tire they can put on around Dec 1. until about the end of Feb. Tire compound is so important when dealing with low temperatures, freezing rain, etc. (If you can't afford proper tires for the conditions, then you shouldn't drive the vehicle.) Case in point, all the wrecks the last couple of days.

They don't really salt the roads around here. Not to the same level the Midwest does. The Midwest is much better at doing the pre stuff in keeping the roads clear.

Salting the roads like that carries it's own issues too though.

No shit! I had a 66 chevy truck I bought new. I had the thing for 40 years until some guy wanted it so bad, I had to sell it to him.
You could never get one to survive that long in the Iron belt states where they salt the road all winter. Totally unnecessary with proper tires.

Snow and ice on the roads are a rarity here. Not being perfectly prepared isn't surprising.

It snowed on Sunday..... rather than go out and drive around with all the morons, why not just stay home? We walked to the store, got a couple things, and Fred Meyers looked busier than Thanksgiving. I swear, people act like they can't survive for a day without going out. It's sad. And as we were talking, I saw a ton of cars driving around with very little traction. Buncha morons.

Yeah that's like what that Rip City Live host was saying about Ed Davis getting stuck in his car for 2 hours because of the ice yesterday morning while trying to drive to get breakfast. Did he not have any food at home?

And just remember, Folks! El Nino is just getting warmed up...

I love how people make fun of Portland for shutting down when it snows. Yes, you midwest folks dominate at driving in the snow.....on a perfectly flat landscape. Amazing.
