It's time to trade CJ

So then what are you disagreeing with? Thats the sort of trade i'm advocating for (I guess you think that JB has some sort of baggage?)
Maybe the timing part? There are a handful of players I'd trade CJ for. Not many. When one of them is available for CJ, then it might be time.

I think I just heard one of the guys on 620 say the Blazers should've traded Crabbe and Turner for Butler. I might have misheard him, but let's assume I didn't.

If the salaries matched, sure, that's a great trade. The problem is, those two salaries don't match Butler, and if you're Chicago, why would you take on that huge amount of underperforming salary? I keep forgetting that most of what they talk about on local sports radio is just to get a reaction/call/tweet.

Wouldn't surprise me. The local radio guys are morons. By trading their best player, the Bulls were clearly going all in on rebuilding. The last thing they want are our big, long term contracts. They were ONLY going to trade Butler to a team with cap space - or in a three way trade involving a team under the cap. They sent out nearly $60 million in salary and took back $7.2 million. No way in fuck were they going to take on Turner's or Crabbe's contracts.

They MIGHT have been willing to take our draft picks - all of them, but no way were they going to take any of our bad contracts,

I have always been open to trading him for the right player.... but with Butler gone, I can't really think of anyone that I would target.

Porzingis would be one.

Butler was one of the VERY few I would have been ok trading CJ for. I am sure we didn't even offer because of CJ's poison pill contract until July. Just bad timing (not that expect our front-office would have gave it much thought regardless).

You don't trade CJ for less than a star though so I don''t see it happening anytime soon unless another guy on a great contract is on the block for less than full-superstar return in value.

There just isn't really anyone out there right now that is available and worth the trade.

Porzingis... that's it.

And I'm not even really convinced that he's really available. It sounds exactly like the kind of crap that Phil pulls on his players. So if we were thinking about trading Dame or CJ, I think the deadline would be the best time to do it. When some team is doing horribly and is willing to dump some talent, like Denver with Nurk.

Agreed. If NY is smart they will get rid of Phil long before Porzingis.

If Minny still sucks by the trade deadline, would you trade CJ for Wiggins/filler?

It's going to be interesting to see what happens in free agency. They're supposedly going after some big name free agents. But right now they don't have very good shooting.

Wiggins shot 35.6% from three.
Rubio shot 30.6%
Butler shot 36.7%

Not a single real solid outside shooter in their starting lineup. Hell, Towns shot the same percentage as Butler (36.7%) from three last season. I thought I heard that they're going after Lowry in free agency, and he shot 41% from three last year, so he would definitely boost their shooting (if they can sign him.)

If they do get Lowry.... that team will be scary. They actually could compete with Golden State.

Lowry
Butler
Wiggins
Dieng
Towns

But if it's still Rubio, I think they're going to struggle because of their lack of shooting.

Hell no. Wiggins is trash. He's the reason the T'Wolves get overrated going into the year. He's a worse defender than CJ.

He's 22 and he averaged 23.6 ppg last season. I think he's hardly "trash."
That's just because of volume shooting. He has below average efficiency, doesn't rebound all that well, doesn't pass the ball and is a horrific defender. His BPM is a -2.7. His scoring doesn't help his team because he takes to many shots to get there.

But people see 23.6ppg and just assume he's a good player just based off that.

He's four years younger than CJ. Do you want to go back and look at CJ's numbers when he was 22? They weren't pretty.

He rebounds more than CJ..... so I'm not sure why you're bringing that up. He's not a power forward. Rebounding shouldn't be a deciding factor for a wing.

CJ didn't hit his stride in efficiency until last season. Before that his FG percentage was 44.8%, 43.6%, and 41.6%.

Whether or not it's a good trade, I don't know why you think he's trash.

CJ is definitely a better scorer with a way better shot. Trading CJ for him would require a big gamble on Wiggins becoming a positive on defense, which up to now he has been anything but.

He definitely is...... at 26 years old, but that wasn't always the case. And most players who join our team and play under Stotts improve their shooting percentages.

CJ is four years older, and has been in the league one year longer than Wiggins.

I think CJ is a better player than Wigs and NO WAY IN HELL would I trade him to a team in our division.

They could someday in the future, if Wiggins improves a lot in terms of both scoring efficiency and defense and Towns improves on defense.

Next year? Even with Lowry, they'd probably at best be fighting for a 4 seed.

CJ is a SG, Wiggins is an athletic SF, Wiggins should be rebounding more, but he isn't.

We're talking about the present, and right now, Wiggins is trash.

It's really hard to guess, at present, who will be in the top 8 next season.

Will the Spurs trade Aldridge?

Will the Clips lose Paul and Griffin?

Will the Wolves sign a big name free agent?

If the Clippers lose Paul and Griffin, they're toast. I don't think we will see them in the playoffs next season. If the Wolves sign someone like Lowry, I could see them in the top 4. More than likely we see the Spurs/Warriors at the top, but beyond that I'm not sure what's going to happen. How good will Utah be if they lose Hayward?

Yeah, actual seeding does depend on who ends up where, that's true. I should say, to be more precise, that the Timberwolves with Lowry would, IMO, perhaps be good enough to challenge for the 4 seed in last year's West. Next year's West, too early to say. I don't think they'll be close to the Warriors level, though.

How much should he be rebounding? 4 rebounds per game isn't bad for a wing. If anything, I think his assists need to come up. They're only at 2.2 per game. They've got Towns averaging 12.3 boards, but Dieng only averages 8 a game. That's not great.

I honestly wouldn't mind a trade of CJ for crowder and jaylen Brown

Unconventional thinking, to say the least. When LeBron formed the Heattles, conventional thinking was you need a Big 3 to win a championship.

When Durant joined GSW, it up the stakes. Now you need a Big 4 to win it all.

So, your plan is to trade away one of our two 20+ ppg scorers for two role players. Maybe we should trade Dame, too. Rather than a Big 4, we can try to assemble our own Small 8. That will show all those foolish super teams. We will mediocre them into submission.

Cj is a proven scorer and even an above average defender when he wants to be. Why would we trade him? U gotta improve the defense around him.

When Nurk got here, our d improved. It takes the pressure off the guys outside when they have a little something behind them to help out. A cpl more pieces and I believe this team can be a defensive force. Everyone has to really buy in tho, which they will cuz this core wants to win NOW

Yep, Nurk getting Nurk gave us a glimpse at our future Big 3. Trading one of those 3 after just 20 games together would be beyond foolish.
