It's time to trade CJ (1 Viewer)

I get that Nurkic does a lot for the team, but giving him credit for making the Plumlee trade is probably overkill.

Brought to you by the Department of Redundancy Department...

Either remove the first Nurk or change the getting to being. I meant the former, but it works either way.

I think I just heard one of the guys on 620 say the Blazers should've traded Crabbe and Turner for Butler. I might have misheard him, but let's assume I didn't.

If the salaries matched, sure, that's a great trade. The problem is, those two salaries don't match Butler, and if you're Chicago, why would you take on that huge amount of underperforming salary? I keep forgetting that most of what they talk about on local sports radio is just to get a reaction/call/tweet.

Harkless,Crabbe and all of our picks for Butler is a better trade than what the Bulls got.

Unlike Dunn and Levine, Hark and Crabbe are actual starters and they would actually get 3 picks instead of only swapping their existing pick.

If Minny still sucks by the trade deadline, would you trade CJ for Wiggins/filler?

It's going to be interesting to see what happens in free agency. They're supposedly going after some big name free agents. But right now they don't have very good shooting.

Wiggins shot 35.6% from three.
Rubio shot 30.6%
Butler shot 36.7%

Not a single real solid outside shooter in their starting lineup. Hell, Towns shot the same percentage as Butler (36.7%) from three last season. I thought I heard that they're going after Lowry in free agency, and he shot 41% from three last year, so he would definitely boost their shooting (if they can sign him.)

If they do get Lowry.... that team will be scary. They actually could compete with Golden State.

Lowry
Butler
Wiggins
Dieng
Towns

But if it's still Rubio, I think they're going to struggle because of their lack of shooting.
No

But the point for CHI is not about getting better now. Its about getting younger and cheaper. LaVine and Dunn are younger than Crabbe and Harkless and make a combined $19 million a year less.

All Crabbe and Harkless would do is potentially hurt their lottery odds for the next three years and cost them nearly $90 million in the process.

For a team that is on Day 1 of their rebuilding process, Crabbe and Harkless have negative value. For a young team that's looking for one or two youngish starters, or that has foolishly traded away all their draft picks and has no other way to acquire talent, perhaps.

Can we trade Meyers for pickles? The BBQ cart on the 300 lvl with the pulled pork used to have spicy pickles by the register. Not anymore.. And now they charge for extra cheese on ur chips.

Can we give them Meyers in exchange for a promise to bring the pickles back? Would they even accept? I think they might spit in my food next time for even offering..... What have I done

Yea, i guess Levine and Dunn are like 2 years younger and cheaper so that part makes a bit of sense.
You could also look at Crabbe and Harkless as better assets imo.

Why are the Bulls keeping Wade and Rondo if tanking is so important?
I think we should not guess the Bulls' train of thought here, mainly because it doesn't exist.

I don't know about Rondo, but Wade was a player option. They had no choice.

And there was no way Wade was declining an opportunity to collect $23M for a season of basketball at 35.

They would not have taken Crabbe or Harkless. Whether Dunn was a bust or not doesn't heavily matter when Chicago identified him as their target as early as during 2016 draft. They probably still consider him a great point guard prospect. There were rumors even last year that they were willing to give Butler to Boston for no. 3 and take him. There is no way they rate Crabbe or Harkless at the same level.

They also wanted LaVine badly by the looks of it. No. 7 was probably the asset they valued the least in the transaction. I honestly don't think Markkanen is great but still, he shot way over 40% from 3-point range last year and is still very young.

Salary absolutely matters, because you are hoping that the player in return is on a max contract, or about to recieve one, which would then exhaust one of the three max contract slots that an NBA team can reasonably carry at a given time.
Yes, it matters. But it's not the reason you trade CJ. If you can get a better player yes, make the salaries match and get it done.

He played alright last night, but fuck me if he doesn't have complete tunnel vision. He either doesn't trust the team, or just doesn't see them.

They will be mediocre and that's good enough for the Blazers and the majority of the fan base.

Nobody besides GS and maybe 2 other teams in the whole league have even the slightest chance of winning a championship. It's best to just accept that and be happy with what we get.

I always want the team to get better, but I'm also realistic about our situation, the situation of the elite teams, and reality itself.

Lack of a bench always kills small market teams. Unless you have s plug and play syatem like San Antonio. Depth issues will always kill the Blazers as they go deep in the playoffs.

Someone suggested a scenario on Reddit that would have been pretty amazing. If we would have traded CJ for PG13 and drafted Mitchell instead of Collins, that would have given us Dame/Mitchell/PG/Whoever/Nurk. Oh what could have been.

I think I still would trade CJ for PG13 if he would go for a sign and trade.

In most situations (given the way the roster rotation works with CJ and The Bench playing big minutes together), including when he's double teamed and a teammate is wide open, he's still the best option, because defenses are smart enough not to double off a decent shooter. A better selection of bench players would fix that more than forcing CJ to pass.

You dont think Turner/Napier/Collins/Davis/PattyC isnt pretty solid?

Are we going to be able to keep Napier and PattyC next year? We aren't talking about now. And Turner sucks most nights BTW....

Two years down the line we might be able to contend but right now.... No way.

Right? There are only two players I want CJ passing to - Dame or Nurk. Okay, maybe Collins, too, just because he needs to develop.

You do realize that the trade deadline has passed?
I was actually thinking about starting another for next year. Seems like it should be going all year the way these guys want to trade all the time.
