OT I've lost all respect for this school

Then how do you explain decades of abuse and coverups?

Cup, your soccer example is similar to saying you've known several black students and parents and since no one ever yelled the N word at them when you were around there is no racism.

Not even fucking close sly. Don't ever associate me with anything racist in the future.

I'm just saying that if you're going to view this using a very tiny lense you're going to miss a lot.

and when people say parents and students are weirdo's and I have experience that says the ones I have associated with aren't weirdo's then I will go with my opinion rather than a generalization of the whole group. I think it's poor judgement to classify any group as if they are one. Every school has their share of weirdos. That doesn't make them all weirdos. elpresidente also has a bad habit of labeling females as bitches.

I judge people as individuals not as a group. It would be similar to me saying the protesters are nothing but a bunch of thugs and thiefs where we easily know that's not the case.

well I hope they address this and sort it out....at least it's being exposed even if it's gone on for decades. ...I'll stand by my original post...fuck

Or the kids who went to CG and OES and then could "only" get into a state school. Those poor sacrificing parents. It's the private schools unfair quota system holding their precious angels back.
Back when I started at LaSalle, it did not yet have a senior class, nor could we afford a football team. But it was the first year we could participate in varsity sports. So in the fall we fielded a soccer team. In 1968, the only schools who played soccer were Catlin Gabel, OES (then Bishop Dagwell), Western Mennonite and a couple more I can’t remember. It was an exceedingly small circle. OES and Catlin were very exclusive and acted every bit of it. The kids were snots, plain and simple. It probably didn’t help that (assuming the majority of their students were Jewish) we strung strips of bacon in the trees along the path from the parking lot to the soccer field. That’s not something I’m even a little proud of, but I guess you’d have had have been there. Those two schools were insufferable when they won and even more insufferable when they lost. Most rich people suck as human beings.....

I haven’t read all the articles but from what I’ve been privy to on this side it appears the abuse is more much more prevalent than what’s being reported. There are so many stories, it's mind boggling. 40 plus years of abuse, thousands of stories. I cannot see the future, but I expect Catlin will not survive this.

All three of my boys played classic and HS soccer and have two grandsons on the Reynolds team.

My boys went to Gladstone & Milwaukie...there were a few games West Linn, LO, & CG in a tourney...I always thought the WL & LO classic team seemed Hoity Toity but was blown away on how stuck up the CB parents were. The worst were those guys from Grant though....lol jk

Yeah, before Wilsonville got it’s own high school, we were part of West Linn youth sports in general. The kids were nice enough overall, but some of the parents were stuck up dick heads. They did not want Wilsonville kids mingling with theirs and we usually were treated like bastard red headed step children, especially in baseball. When we finally got our own youth sports teams it was always a sincere pleasure to beat West Linn and listen to them whine. Nobody ever beat them fair and square. Just ask them.....And as far as LO went, I don’t think they even knew Wilsonville even existed. It was too far outside their bubble.....which was fine by us.

Unfortunately the only people we know who have their kids currently at either of these school are SUPER rich and snobbish. So much so, that they felt their kids were above Jesuit. Just our experience.

It costs almost half a million dollars to send your kid there all 14 years.

What age are your boys? My two kids that played soccer are 35 and 33 right now. My daughter played for an all girls soccer club based on the eastside called Portland Metro and they went to u-14 then she switched to FC Portland. My son played 2 years at PCU (he was playing up a year) and then played his u-13 year over again and continued on at FC Portland.

My boys are 40, 35, & 30 they didn't play in college.
My two grandsons will be on the Reynolds varsity team this coming fall. They have played year around since very young. They haven't been playing since covid and are chomping at the bit to get going.

Catlin Gabel isn't religious.

Lots of pedophiles in schools. Public, private, etc. The teaching profession seems to attract many of them due to the obvious ease of access to young vulnerable kids.
I thought it was Catholic.

well, your 35 year old would be the same age as my son then. What club did he play for? I remember one tournament where I believe my son might have been a u-15 and we played a Putnam team in the tourney. I also think it was my son's senior year Franklin played Putnam at Franklin on a Saturday. My son's sophomore year they played a high school game at Milwaukie before they got a turf field. That field was horrible for soccer as it had such a high crown in the middle you could only see the players from the knee up on the opposite side, lol.

Oh man, it was a Gladstone classic team I think sponsored by Armstrong VW. He started as a freshman at Gladstone HS.
The Milwaukie field was bad. They have a whole new baseball/softball complex now on Lake Road not sure if the play soccer there or not.

My grandsons play for Eastside Timbers now and Reynolds HS.
One grandson used to play for Cuervos only blond on the team.

Bite your unholy tongue you English Catholic......
We use to swear allegiance to the Holy Roman Catholic church when I was a boy. The liturgy has now changed to swearing allegiance to the Catholic and apostolic church.

This from Wikipedia:
"The Episcopal Church also has the highest number of graduate and post-graduate degrees per capita (56%) of any other Christian denomination in the United States, as well as the most high-income earners. According to a 2014 study by the Pew Research Center, Episcopalians ranked as the third wealthiest religious group in the United States, with 35% of Episcopalians living in households with incomes of at least $100,000."

So, we're no dummies.
