One day after Brandon Roy did his first post-operative activity, the Trail Blazers are leaving open the option that the All-Star guard can return in the playoffs, perhaps as soon as the first round series against Phoenix.

Roy, who had minor surgery on April 16 to repair the torn meniscus in his right knee, shot free throws on Monday and moved around on the knee, reporting to athletic trainer Jay Jensen and general manager Kevin Pritchard that he was encouraged. Roy said there is no swelling or pain.

Roy back for Phoenix??

Maybe if the series goes long enough? He'll certainly play in the 2nd round if we can get there?:ghoti:

Per OLive.

Re: Roy back for Phoenix??

What kind of shape will he be in? Will he be able to play on his knee?

If Roy comes back to the PHX series - we sweep them in 3 games, not 4 ;)

Honestly, I think that we win this series without him. If he comes back and is productive - even Charles Barkley might think we do...

Well, since he was active yesterday and reported no pain or swelling, I assume he'll be in okay shape.

Most encouraging is that KP is CERTAIN that Brandon will play in the second round if we advance.

Good news. I am hoping Dallas/San Antonio goes 7 so that if the Blazers advance, he has a ton of time to get back up to speed.

It's great news though. If we can have a healthy Roy by the second round (if we can get there), I think we've got a very good shot.

If we can get him back by game 5 or 6 then this could really tip the scales in what I see as essentially a coin-flip series that I expect to go to the wire almost every game.

This much is known: The surgery was very minor, and very clean. Usually in an arthroscopy, three holes or incisions are made in the knee to get to the meniscus. In Roy’s surgery, only two holes were done, which should accelerate his healing process.

After hearing the initial 1-2 weeks after the surgery I had a feeling something like this happened.

Imagine him coming back for a game 6 at home with a chance to win the series, how loud would the Garden be?

Well that is if this series gets to that many games. I personally am holding out hope that in game 4 in the Rose Garden, that I can bring a broom to the game! I have never got to bring a broom to a game and cheer for the sweep, as long as I have been a season ticket holder. I would relish the chance for it to happen this year, with all the bullshit that has happened.

C'Mon, you really believe this?

Ooof ... that's too much for me to even dream about ... not to say it wouldn't be awesome, but I just want to see them get through tonight intact.

Was there stuff removed? Or do they sew it back together? I wonder how there can't be pain in that, or swelling.... but who knows, knees are crazy, mine makes all sorts of crunching noises now.

That Barkley will believe we win it? No. I was using Hyperbole. (Which is not really excited testicles, btw, that's a clue).

I thought we could have swept them before Roy went down, however.

You've pretty much flip-flopped like the national media then.

Just a few days ago you wrote:

No kidding, winning is a longshot, but damn I'm gonna be a little bit depressed if they get 'broomed'

You even said we were most likely to get swept in the west... not exactly a "coin-flip".

I'd like to hear an update on Oden.

Not necessarily if he can return or not(probably not), but just where he is right now. I fear he's had some setbacks based on the little information about his rehab, but who knows.

Situations change. Just like it could change tonight. It's amazing that people who think often use the latest information available to make mental decisions. It's called using perception. It's pretty cool, you might try it sometime. :tsktsk:

I always reserve the right to change my opinion when new information is presented to me; this team has surprised the hell out of me with their performance in game 1

Wut??

But, but this is the internetz. There will be no changing of opinions, and any contradictions or changes of opinion will be searched out and then posted by people with a lot of time on their hands! How am I supposed to feel superior if I can't bash people for changing their minds?
