J.R. Smith 'Hopes' To Play In Season Opener

J.R. Smith said on Thursday that he "hopes" to play in the New York Knicks' season opener on Oct. 30 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Smith underwent patellar tendon surgery last month.

Smith was expected to miss three to four months.

Smith won the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year last season.
