How we gonna stop (or even slow down) that guy??

Also, anyone know the status of Batum? Is he gonna play Wednesday?

He's an idiot and George Karl knows it. Karl cringes nearly everytime Smith decides to pull up. That stuff may work on occasion like it did last night, but like George said after the game, those weren't playoff shots.

Maybe we should make fun of his tattoos?

Really? Music to my ears at this point in time!

Meanwhile, the Blazers are humming like a well-oiled machine. Cool, calm, collective......with a perfect dusting of swag on the side. Yeah. :pimp:

Smith has been RED HOT lately. Last night wasn't a one-game fluke.

He's JR Rider and Bonzi Wells mixed into one player. From the neck down, he's a brilliant player. From the neck up, he's concrete aggregate.

JR Smith has been playing great lately. If Karl was smart he would just let him go out and do his thing. Thats why they got Billups anyway isn't it? to control the game and distribute the ball. With Billups, Smith, and Melo out there, the nuggets should be able to outmatch the Blazers backcourt easily.

J. R. Smith induces fear in his opponents.....

but he also induces fear in his coaches.

What's the point of being superathletic and being able to make ridiculously hard shots
if you, by choice, always take low percentage shots?

If I was Karl, I'd be afraid of Smith too. But for now, I'd let him do his thing - it seems to be working. I understand he's either going to shoot you in or out of a game. If he starts clanking those jumpers, put him on the bench. I think you gotta ride that horse for now though. Plus, it's giving opposing teams another thing to think about. You can't just scheme against 'Melo right now.

Kinda scares me for tomorrow night. If JR is in "the zone" again, we could play well and still lose. On the other hand, maybe he comes back down to earth . . .

cough*rasheed*cough
if the shoe doesn't fit, just keep trying to jam the mother on in thread after thread (no one gets sick of that)

how many strait years has Wallace made the playoffs now? For coaches, playoffs equal job security.

By not being the Sacremento Kings.

OK, then....let me ask you a question. Be honest, please:

Let's say the Hawks hadn't traded Rasheed to Detroit. Think that particular streak would have still been intact? :)

Outlaw?

Wow, they pulled out "DIVISION CHAMPION" hats? BAHAHAHAHAHA that's funny. Pretty much seals the deal that that's the only hat they'll don this year. Losers celebrate the little victories, while winners ignore them and focus on winning the war. See: Blazers' celebration on clinching a playoff berth.

You mean the 3 hour celebration that's happening at Pioneer Square on Thursday? Gimme a break. We would have probably had hats made as well. And we all would have been excited about them, and excited about raising that banner next season.

Celebration maybe. I was looking at it as more of a rally for support for the playoffs.

I'm sure the players demanded that. The Rally is marketing, plain and simple. I'm talking about the players whooping and hollering before/after the game they clinched the playoff berth. Did you see any of that? Me, either.

I doubt Denver's players demanded the teammake them hats either. That's marketing.
Did we see any of it? No, because we didn't clinch with a victory, to give us that opportunity. We clinched when another team lost, right before a game of ours. Had Denver lost last night, and then we beat them tomorrow to win the division, I am pretty sure our guys would have been fired up about that, and did a little bit of celebrating though. You just can't really expect them to celebrate after losign to Houston by uncorking some champagne.

Let's not get too carried away. He lit up the worst team in the league like a christmas tree, but they are still the worst team in the leage, I wouldn't expect him to get quite the same looks against Nic, Brandon, Rudy, etc.

but when we play them on wed. who do you sick batum on? carmelo or jr?

Carmelo. JR will just hover around the perimiter all game if he has the same shot selection.

I actually think JR's big game is good news. Hopefully he will be overconfident like he normally gets, and jack up a bunch of bricks against better competition. Lots of missed 3's=lots of run outs for the Blazers.

Talk about beating a dead horse. Everytime anyone criticizes Rashweed Wallace, for anything at all, you come rushing to his rescue like an overly protective mother. Are you on his payroll, or are you just a relative?

He has to first miss the shots for that theory to hold... He's had three recent games totaling 22 made 3's, if memory serves, all on very high percentage shooting.

High percentage shooting is more likely coming because of team play, not because of something special he is doing. Let's put it this way. It is not very often that a guy just jacks up 3's out of the flow of the offense and hits a high majority of them. If that happens, you send in Michael Ruffin to take him out.

He's a streak shooter, though, and he's been on a very good streak lately. He doesn't strike me as the type to differentiate between good and bad shots, which makes him difficult to defend when he's on...

Being fearless usually means you're too stupid to fear something.
