Confession: part of why I am so anti-Parker is the fear that Olshey will decide to pick up his option....and then give him an extension.....

I guess it depends on how he plays for us. I would hope his option wouldn't get picked up but if he plays well then we wouldn't have any bird rights so keeping him would be difficult without picking up the option.

Jabari isn’t useless. He just didn’t work out in Chicago. They tried playing him at SF. They have enough PFs. Utah has enough defenders to mask his deficiencies. They could use a scorer. Good for them if they get him, I think it would make them better. I wish I could say with certainty that we also have a franchise invested in putting the best product on the court. The past year + has made me cynical that we do.
I think they were playing him at PF with Markkanen and Portis out, weren't they? Someone posted stats in here and they were for him playing PF and they were really bad.

The initial plan when they signed him was to play him at SF. That obviously was a shit plan but injuries allowed him to play PF. Now that those two are on the mend, there really is no spot for Parker.

I really don't understand how GarPax still have jobs. Why sign Jabari to $20 million after you spent back-to-back #7 picks on bigs? If their plan was to play him all along at SF then they are even more dumb.

They are dumb. Which is why they should give us Parker for one or two of our shit contracts and a pick.

Olshey makes 3m a year?is that a mil per transaction?
That's his limit per player per transaction. In the past year hes acquired 4 players. All make less than $3M per year.

He got his contract and showed up to camp fat and out of shape. This isn't the kind of guy I want, but beggars can't be choosers.

maybe Utah should just replace their GM & Coach? Because they have taken a step back early in this season, in a league full of mediocrity?

Sad. Following him in high school he showed such a strong work ethic and maturity.

How does that compare to us...?

If Portland was the benchmark than the Jazz defiantly better re-organize, as they are going in an opposite direction than Blazers.
Be interesting to see how the Jazz fans are reacting to their season to date.

I highly highly doubt that's actually true.

So, first they say she has no interest in owning the Blazers, which is fine with everyone, THEN they reverse course and go out of their way to say that she is interested in keeping the Blazers and now they are lying? Why would they do this? It is not as if they are talking about strategy or players or something that requires subterfuge. Seems like an unnecessarily conspiratorial stance to take.

Did she say she now wanted to keep the Blazers? Or. It is business as usual?

I seem to remember something close to the later, but not 100% sure. They are not the same.

When a person passes away, their assets go into probate. There is a process to protect both the creditors and govt for taxes owed. The team can be sold while in probate, but, not until later in the process. Given the size and complexity of PA estate, this process could take years.

So her statements of not wanting to own the Blazers, and business as usual are not contradictory.

Of course, she also may have changed her mind, but, women never do that.

There are some parallels from this situation to Nurk in Denver. They say he had attitude issues and didn't take well to benching. He got out of shape and didn't give a shit.

Difference is, Jabari got paid. Big. Now it's a foregone conclusion that his 20 mil deal for next season won't get picked up.

I would throw Evan and a future pick for him in hopes that our culture turns it around like it did for Nurk.

I think the injuries/surgeries have taken their toll. He can still get decent stats, mostly because he’s looking for them, but I really doubt he’s a huge upgrade over Chief, especially at 20 mil per.

And for the record I don’t even like Chief.

If for some reason they would take ET for him sure but why would they take extra years when Parker has a team option next year? Is a pick between 16-23 really worth adding that much salary for another year?

Nurk was solid in Denver though.

But I'd do that trade. Chicago doesnt want long term salary though.

Just checked. He's represented by our old friend Mark Bartelstein.

Jabari to Portland confirmed.

How does it not? They were a team that was praised at the beginning of the year and expected to finish 3rd in the west while the Blazers were projected 10th. Looks like Blazers have over achieved and Jazz have severely underachieved.

Offensively Parker is the better player, but defensively Aminu is clearly a better player. They really aren't comparable players in how they play the game and what their role is. Add in his injury issues and Aminu is clearly a better value at this stage. If Parker's salary wasn't so ridiculously bad he might be worth taking a chance, but not at 20 mil.
