The Bakersfield Jam (2-4) hung on to a 104-100 victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders (1-3) Friday night at the Dignity Health Event Center. Mac Koshwal recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Koshwal scored 15 of his 21 points in the first half, helping the Jam take a 56-54 lead at halftime. Third quarter belonged to Bakersfield, thanks in part to John Jenkins who scored 12 points (3/5 FGs; 5/6 FTs). The Jam took an 85-75 lead into the fourth quarter and extended it to as many as 14 points. However, Los Angeles fought back and had the Jam's lead cut to just two points (102-100) with 41.7 seconds left in the game. With 02.1 seconds left, Billy Baptist made two clutch free-throws that sealed the victory for the Jam.
In addition to Koshwal's double-double, John Jenkins, who earlier today was assigned to Bakersfield from the Atlanta Hawks, finished with 20 points and grabbed four rebounds in 32 minutes of action. James Nunnally had 12 points and five rebounds, while Brian Butch posted 11 points and 14 rebounds. Damion James finished with 11 points and three steals. Dennis Schr�=B6der, on assignment from the Hawks as well, had nine points, six rebounds and six assists.
Ryan Kelly, on assignment from the Los Angeles Lakers, led the D-Fenders with 21 points and seven rebounds. Josiah Turner came off the bench and scored 17 points, while Brandon Costner posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Same two teams will face each other again on tomorrow Saturday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Los Angeles.
