I agree with a lot of what you left in this comment. But I don't see the correlation between the two comments.

Cranc and yourself basically said Trump is only allowed to lie, then get a cameo on the emmys because he's a white male.
While I could point to other politicians not male, or not white. Who've lied, then benefited from it.

Williams was let go from the network following comments on made on "Fox and Friends" in 2011 when he made politcally-charged comments about then-president Barack Obama. He said Obama's golf game with then-House Speaker John Boehner (R) was "like Hitler playing golf with [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu." He then said Obama would be Hitler in that comparison.

Williams responded by trying to clarify what he said by saying: "Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood. My analogy was extreme -- but it was to make a point. I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me -- how ludicrous that pairing was. They're polar opposites and it made no sense. They don't see eye-to-eye and never will. I have always respected the office of the president."

Seems very different to me, though, as Williams was a vendor providing a service to ESPN, rather than an employee of ESPN as Hill is. One could argue that it makes it much more reasonable to separate from a vendor who generates unwelcome controversy. Then again, one could also say that an employee's comments are much more easily considered representative of the company than a vendor's are, and should therefore be held up to greater scrutiny.
