Politics Jared Kushner sought "back channel" with Kremlin

Jared Kushner and Russia's ambassador to Washington discussed the possibility of setting up a secret and secure communications channel between Donald Trump's transition team and the Kremlin, using Russian diplomatic facilities in an apparent move to shield their pre-inauguration discussions from monitoring, according to U.S. officials briefed on intelligence reports.

Ambassador Sergei Kislyak reported to his superiors in Moscow that Kushner, son-in-law and confidant to then-President-elect Trump, made the proposal during a meeting on Dec. 1 or 2 at Trump Tower, according to intercepts of Russian communications that were reviewed by U.S. officials. Kislyak said Kushner suggested using Russian diplomatic facilities in the United States for the communications.

The meeting also was attended by Michael Flynn, Trump's first national security adviser.

The White House disclosed the meeting only in March, playing down its significance. But people familiar with the matter say the FBI now considers the encounter, as well as another meeting Kushner had with a Russian banker, to be of investigative interest.

Kislyak reportedly was taken aback by the suggestion of allowing an American to use Russian communications gear at its embassy or consulate - a proposal that would have carried security risks for Moscow as well as the Trump team.

Kushner....well, we all hated Hillary so it was the only way to win......we don't like to lose

Anyway, this is an interesting story. I can see why Kushner and Flynn completely forgot about having this meeting.
I think about a month ago I read an article about this...apparently Kushner bragged to several Russians about his access....the old I'll scratch your back schpiel...to which immediately the Trumpettes screamed....fake news.. it rang true with me at the time...this confirms it even more.

Don't you see that this is all the fault of the media?

It's getting so a man can't even commit a little treason without people asking annoying questions about it.

when asked about it, the standard answer would be, "How about those Knicks!"

Absolutely. Treason has gone on for decades without the media reporting shit.

Just one more silly meeting with Russians that Kushner forgot he had.

The Russian banker Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner met with in December is viewed by U.S. intelligence as a "Putin crony" and a graduate of a "finishing school" for spies who was often tasked with sensitive financial operations by Putin, according to multiple U.S. officials and documents viewed by NBC News.

Sergey Gorkov, 48, graduated from the FSB Academy, which was chartered in 1994 to educate Russian Intelligence personnel. He has long served Russian President Vladimir Putin in critical economic roles. Most recently, Putin chose him to head of the state-owned VneshEconomBank (VEB). As the Russian state national development bank, VEB has played a critical role in blunting the impact of U.S. sanctions against Russia by finding other sources of foreign capital.

Before that, Gorkov was the deputy chairman of Sberbank, Russia's biggest bank, also state-owned, and also under U.S. sanctions since 2014.

Boring banker dude, it's easy to see why Kushner completely forgot he met with him. Nothing to see here.

Clear evidence of collusion.

Too bad for the conspiracy theorists that it's after the election. All it does is show a lack of trust in the established Obama appointees.

Along with all the leaks of top secret information to the press by people still in the intelligence agencies, it's pretty smart of the incoming administration to seek alternate means of communications with every foreign nation, including Russia.

Oddly, when Russia makes public statements that don't fit the press narratives, they're lying. But when it does fit, they're telling the truth.

And yet, Russia seems to be the only nation they were interested in secretly communicating with. Hmm.

Just keep pushing on that rock, I'm sure you'll get it up to the top of the mountain if you just try a little harder.

Its funny to see people acting like Trump invented corruption. He very well may have done some shady shit but at least be honest with yourselves and acknowledge all the worse things your Democrat messiahs have been complicit in.

Quit acting like this shit is unprecedented. You all had your thumbs up your asses while Obama was drone-striking Libyan children and Hillary was selling Uranium to the same evil Russians you can't seem to shut the fuck up about.

Now that a non-"liberal" is in office you suddenly become political watchdogs?

How is this any different than the "conservatives" under obama?

Oh yeah, it's not.

The opposition party will always be this way, no matter which one is in office. Might as well get used to it bro.

Well maybe somebody will be introduced to Kushner's back channel when he goes to prison

How do you know Russia was the only nation we sought this kind of relationship with? Kushner met with dozens of representatives of foreign nations.

The pushing the rock thing is the whole Russia narrative. Keep pushing it, while I laugh at it.

"We have back-channel communications with any number of individual (countries). So generally speaking, about back-channel communications, what that allows you to do is communicate in a discreet manner," McMaster said.

"So it doesn't pre-expose you to any sort of content or any kind of conversation or anything. So we're not concerned about it."

Related in that it is words and Denny has read it.

Related because it's the swamp that needs to be drained. These same organizations are leaking classified material to maintain the status quo.

I'm rooting for the swamp to be drained, and it will be.

Inside the West Wing, discovering and prosecuting those responsible for the constant drumbeat of leaks has become a top priority. While most of the focus has been on current U.S. intelligence personnel and former Obama administration officials...
