I've been getting the same vibe. Just seems smug and cocky now... his interview with Chris Haynes kind of painted him in a bad light.

CJ is *watches Kobe documentary once.*

and I think some of you project way to much of your own feelings rather than what the real feelings are which Jason Quick often does in his reportings.. By all accounts McCollum is a good teammate and a great locker room guy.

CJ has always had the ivy-league swagger. But I don't take it as him being cocky.
Though that ivy-league swagger rubbed Aldridge the wrong way. That's for damn sure.
Ya'll being snowflakes like Aldridge was.

Often times people perceive confidence as cockiness and sometimes it's a fine line. Westbrook and Kobe were cocky players with tons of confidence where as CJ and Lillard are very confident players. If you don't have confidence in yourself, you are less likely to reach your full potential. I have absolutely no problem with McCollums demeanor.

This was a bit funny at first, but honestly I don't really care for the over the top attitude here. I do not like Jason Quick at all, but I can't imagine Dame, or any other classy NBA player saying this. CJ was part of a team that just got shellacked in the first round by the away team. A bit of humility might be nice.

There is lots to complain about concerning the team and players, why make up fake news?

and on the flip side, McCollum and his team just came off an unexpected outcome in the series and a little leeway should have been given by Quick rather than attack while a player is down. I doubt I would have been as cordial as CJ. CJ also played his ass off in that final game that Quick attacked him on.

I'm not defending Quick. He was and has always been a tool. What he wrote was wrong on many levels.

Maybe CJ was just responding out of frustration (something I have done and got zapped for in the past). But, I hope he really doesn't see himself as the Lion and others as sheep. Lebron is a lion, CJ isn't even a cub yet.

The sheep was Quick. It is obvious by many of your posts after the series that you are upset and responding accordingly but yet you don't allow that to someone who actually played in the series and was attacked by a local sports writer.

I think Quick just had some personal agenda against CJ and wanted to lob a pot shot the first opportunity he thought he saw. Thing is if he wanted to wait until after the series to come up with a well informed, character assassination type piece about how CJ helps suck the life out of the offense, then I'd be all for it.

But Quick going for the fly-in hot take that isn't even accurate just shows how petty and dumb he really is.

So you don't like the animal CJ used?

Would a hyena or jackal have been better?

There is a difference between discussing the make up of the team on a forum, where open dialog is encouraged, and directly attacking someone on Twitter. I'm not attacking CJ, I just don't believe this team will be elite with Dame and CJ as the backcourt. CJ can have whatever opinion of Quick he wants. I'm more concerned about his ability to self reflect (like Dame) and where his head is at regarding his need to improve.

Lions attacking sheep is violence against animals. Someone should report CJ to PETA.

Someone should also report the Pelicans for child abuse.

This is much ado about nothing. I saw nothing wrong in Quick's tweet. He had an opinion and expressed it. Just wish he didn't delete it if he meant it.

Also, CJ is really quick to jump on these perceived slights. Maybe he shoulda focused this similar energy on some of the games in this series.

This is a pot shot? Guess you guys want our media to handle all this with kid gloves. Also, you might want to see how some other media outlets handle their local teams. If CJ gets this worked up over Quick's comment, he'd get slaughtered in NY.

Of all the problems with CJ and the team is this problem that Quick should be focusing on? Is this even a problem? Quick makes it sound like CJ is the Blazer's Draymond Green. No one is saying that the press should call out players on the team. The majority of us do it daily in this forum. It was an odd and inaccurate statement to make. I believe that is what most of us are calling Quick out about.

Theres a difference between someone saying.
He's a cheap and dirty player.
And.
He's got to perform better on the court.

I didn't read it that way. What Green does is blatant, Quick called CJ borderline.

What's the point of having @KingSpeed fly to NO if he's not going to run out on the court and Draymond AD right in the nuts?

Quick didn't have much room. If this was any other profession that didn't have to maintain some level of neutrality ("no cheering on Press Row!"), something like this could've been said:

"Dear All, I deleted a tweet that I wrote and posted in a moment of frustration and, while dumb, does not reflect how I feel about the team, its players in general or CJ McCollum in specific.
To CJ, my sincere apologies. It was an unprofessional rant-of-the-moment hawt take and I quickly recognized the error of it, but not quickly enough to prevent it from being screen-capped and saved for posterity. Won't happen again."

But how do you write that without looking really unprofessional? And if you don't, how (as discussed above) do you get quotes, "inside info", rumors, players' takes, etc. from a locker room that's going to freeze you out? You become Canzano, pot-shotting from the bleachers b/c no one's going to give you the time of day.

Labeling a guy "cheap and dirty" in a 20 word tweet with no evidence or effort to back it up feels like a pot shot, yes.

Like I said, I'm all for calling CJ out if Quick wanted to make a reasoned point. It's just that there's a proper way to do that and also maintain some shred of journalistic integrity.

Maybe Quick was trying to tell us that CJ is dating a Kardashian?

#Cheap&Dirty

For the record, I thought what CJ did on that play in question was pretty damn dirty and clearly out of frustration. He was manhandled on one end of the floor, and didn't get a call. So he sprinted down and shoved a guy while he was in the air. And it isn't the first time he's done this. He has tied for the lead on our team in flagrant fouls committed the past three years (2, 1, 1). This is kinda unusual from a guy who is 6'3. It's not many, but he sometimes lets his frustration get the better of him.
