Jason Quick vs CJ McCollum

For the record, I thought what CJ did on that play in question was pretty damn dirty and clearly out of frustration. He was manhandled on one end of the floor, and didn't get a call. So he sprinted down and shoved a guy while he was in the air. And it isn't the first time he's done this. He has tied for the lead on our team in flagrant fouls committed the past three years (2, 1, 1). This is kinda unusual from a guy who is 6'3. It's not many, but he sometimes lets his frustration get the better of him.

I don't even really remember the play in question but I get what you're saying. CJ (and Meyers) are both poor enough defenders that I've seen them commit some really careless frustration fouls when things don't go their way because they lack defensive intangibles and get blown by. Nurkic commits silly frustration fouls too, often on rebound attempts after he misses wildly.

This is a pot shot? Guess you guys want our media to handle all this with kid gloves. Also, you might want to see how some other media outlets handle their local teams. If CJ gets this worked up over Quick's comment, he'd get slaughtered in NY.

That's not the case at all. It was an unwarranted comment simple as that. Do you think CJ is a cheap and dirty player. CJ wasn't that worked up, he simply let Quick know he stepped over the line and I agree. You don't. No biggie.

It is kind of a biggie. Quick was way out of line which is not new for Quick.

Watch the replay. Davis was not in the air. What I find hilarious is that some of you guys claim we need to have more hard fouls and then when it happens now it is labeled cheap and dirty. Do you consider Devin Booker a cheap and dirty player?

Interesting.

Quick hasn't tweeted at all since that tweet. He's only retweet posts by his employer. Didn't tweet anything about the player interviews yesterday.

Wrong play.

"20 pounds of muscle", coming right up.

(not the name of HCP's amateur porn video, for those of you searching. It's a Quick-ism for every big man that lifted over the summer. Similar to "best shape of his life" (TM) )
LOL

B, even YOU? I thought you were better than this.

Quick didn't say he was cheap and dirty, did he?

Wrong play.

ok maybe it was the wrong player but I had no idea how brutal it was until after seeing that play, lol. NBA has become way to sensitive to protecting players. It was simply a hard foul and one that many in this forum have advocated from our team claiming we play too soft.

You never answered the question if you feel Devin Booker is a cheap and dirty player.

It's irrelevant. And besides. How should I know? Who in their right mind watches Devin Booker and the Suns play? Quick has probably been on the court for every single on of CJ's games in his career.

Just did some poking around, and Quick was not at the exit interviews. I believe it was because he couldn't get back from NOLA in time. Joe Freeman did not go to New Orleans for games 3&4 and was able to attend.

The relevancy was brought into this discussion by you when you stated that CJ has had 4 flagrant fouls in 3 seasons. Booker had 5 flagrants in this season alone and 9 technicals this year, but I don't consider him a cheap and dirty player.

Boy this is some circuitous logic you're spouting.

So me saying CJ led our team in flagrant fouls has what to do with Devin Booker?

No wonder the OLive forum died with your kind of riveting discussion.

Rumor has it that NBCSNW revoked his return ticket. :devilwink:

he claimed CJ has always bordered on as a cheap and dirty player

That's what I thought. So NOT a cheap and dirty player. Like Oregon is not California just because it borders it. I've seen CJ react to some things that I thought were a little over reactionary and perhaps 'bordered' on being a cheap play. Don't think that makes him a dirty player unless it happened more often...which it hasn't.

I thought Quick was over-hyperbolic and CJ had a bit too much Durant-like rabbit ears. Nothing really to see here.

It's called relating one situation to another. An advanced way of looking at things. One is a cheap and dirty player because he leads the team with 4 flagrants in 3 seasons while another isn't with 5 in one year?

The Olive forum didn't die. They simply made changes and decided no longer to host forums at all, not just the Blazer one. The Blazer forum was very active, the others not very much. Keep up with times. Talk about irrelevant.

Apparently this discussion has you all butthurt so I will bow out now.

Many players in the league make plays that are bordering on maybe cheap or dirty, but it was the "always" that Quick used to put it over the top. A couple cheap plays doesn't make one always bordering as that type of player. Like I mentioned before, I have read several comments over the years by fans saying we need to do some hard fouls and then when one does it they get flack.

No sir, you are correct. Going to be really working on my brand this offseason. Big changes coming.
Seriously, that's exciting. Let me know if I can help. I don't know many people, I don't do many things well, but I sometimes care.

I agree with the hard fouls. But there is also a difference between hard fouls and reactionary 'borderline' cheap fouls. I've seen CJ make a number of the 2nd types of fouls and I'm not the only one to have noticed that. It's not that often which is why I don't consider him a cheap type of player.

I don't think Quick was incorrect here.

He was wrong for stating it, but it had merit.

CJ has had 3-4 instances over the last 2 years where he's committed a hard foul in the upper shoulder/head area. He's following the play & knocks the opposing player off balance.

I'm fine with hard fouls (even flagrant) from the front. If they are from behind (like CJ has done) they 'border on cheap and dirty'.
