I think my best racial crack was when we were playing the Wolves about 4 years ago and they only had 1 black guy on the court and I screamed that they were playing their HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH squad!
Hell I think even I made that crack on Minny.

There have been so many coaching changes that there will be a huge pool of available assistant coaches to choose from. Stotts probably knows them all. When it comes to picking a staff I think he's ahead of the curve. I see Tibbetts as the lead assistant now and wouldn't be surprised to see Kaman take Kim Hughes old job. I'd talk to Monty Williams at least

Seems like we should promote a video guy to assistant coach, like we did with Kanales.

Now, what video guys do we have available?

Jonathan Yim is the team's video coordinator. Vanterpool is lead assistant, not Tibbs.

Can somebody please tell me the difference between an ASSISTANT and an ASSOCIATE head coach.

Yim warms up Dame and CJ pregame from around 5-5:15 , but those two do their main pregame routine with Coach Vanterpool

The best place for a rookie in the coaching staff is where Hersey Hawkins has dwelled for several years, shagging balls until he develops any coaching talent to get promoted. Which in his case apparently won't happen.

Hawkins, a former NBA star, does not have the title or pay of an Assistant Coach. That's the right level for any rookie in our coaching staff. The last time we made the mistake of giving a rookie the title was Buck Williams. Any new Assistant Coach should have years of coaching experience.

If you would have gone to any of the practice facility tours you would know exactly what Hawkins does and why it's a very important position.

Pay raise.

That's it. Not a lot of difference between head assistant coach and associate head coach. Watson will still be making the calls.

Jay must be close to retirement, that's why people move to Phoenix after all

Good thing you spoke up. That reminds me. How long have you been here?

Sly, today a giant dog threatened the shuttle tank on its way to a Los Angeles museum.

Associate head coach is like Vice President. Assistant coaches are like the members of the president's cabinet.

I'd be thrilled if we wanted Silas as a top assistant coach!

So what's new with Vanterpool. Would we lose him if we didn't give him the top assistant job? He was up for the Orlando job but didn't get it. Is he interviewing anywhere else?

If we lose Tibbetts and Triano, I would hope they hire someone like Silas AND give Vanterpool a raise.

Pretty sure Vanterpool is already our lead assistant. So if we hire a new lead assistant then I think he would of course think about leaving rather then taking a step down. But that would mean him getting a lead job somewhere else. So who knows...

PORTLAND, Ore. (June 1, 2016) – The Portland Trail Blazers have finalized their coaching staff for the 2016-17 season, it was announced today by president of basketball operations Neil Olshey.
