Jay-Z May Take Larger Role in Nets after Leaving Def-Jam
December 25, 2007, 11:06 am
As an entertainment story, Jay-Z’s resignation from Def Jam was all about his future creative direction. But as a sports story, it’s about the hip-hop empresario’s desire to play a larger role in management of the Nets and their move to Brooklyn. Getting more involved in the Nets is one reason cited for his decision to leave Def-Jam. At the time of Nets sale to Bruce Ratner’s group, Jay-Z owned 1.47% of the team.
