And we've dealt our 2013 pick, not next year's.

Because Miller is old. If we can get a younger player that is his equal now, then we're going to be better off at the position going into the future.
Ed O.

I haven't responded to BrianFromWA in this thread.
Your argument is invalid.
Literminstrelal is not happy with this line of questioning.

Roy and Oden are the pieces we need to move.
For a healthy star center.
Who made you King?
I like Nash, a lot to give up for him though for 2-3? years tops worth of play?
and I don't think this team is one player (nash) away from being an NBA contender, if Allen and mgmt really believe that then they are fucking delusional....
This team can't even get out of the 1st round...and adding Nash suddenly propels them to NBA title contenders? I don't think so.....
I seem to have awoken what I will term "the haters."
See what I mean Nate? Now he's acting like he's way better than us... and the lives we have to go back to when he's done posting.
I've been as big a Batum booster as anybody...but let's get real. He is a nice role-player, but that's about it. He isn't going to magically turn into a star if he gets traded.
Unfortunately the people around him and the media crowned him King before he even graduated from highschool and he just doesn't know any better... he believes his own hype.
Two things:
1. Even nice role-players have value. A bunch of seasons from a nice role-player can be of much more value to a franchise that 1-2 seasons from a better player.
2. Players getting better as they get older doesn't require magic. It is, in fact, the usual way things work, though it is not guaranteed. If Batum is a nice role-player at 23, he may well be significantly more than that at 26-27.
I agree with the first point, not so much with the second.
There is simply no evidence that Batum will ever become a top-flight rebounder, playmaker or a player that can create his own offense. He may go from "very good" to "great" as a defender, but given the other limitations he has, that won't really elevate him above role-player status.

I would do trade for Nash in a heartbeat. Look how old the NBA champiom's PG was this year. Nash is wayyyy better than Kidd. Nash could take Crash, Matthews, Aldridge, and Oden to title if LaMarcus keeps working on his game all summer.
Dirk = LMAI don't know if I see it. Who is our Dirk in that scenario? Who is our Jason Terry? The Mavs have a solid bench, we do not.
POR doesn't have near enough the offensive firepower that DAL has. Need better offensive players, if this team actually wants to go anywhere in the playoffs.
