<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NetsDaily)</div><div class='quotemain'>The Nets will no doubt make the call, offering Richard Jefferson for the Lakers’ whipping boy, Lamar Odom, but don’t expect much beyond silence at the other end, writes Dave D’Alessandro. The Nets would like to unload RJ and his $42.4 million contract, but that price tag is making things difficult. What about that Jefferson for Boris Diaw and Leandro Barbosa rumor? Yeah, it’s breathing, but barely.</div>
The R.J. Conundrum (Reprise) - Dave D'Alessandro - Nets Blast
What a shame. I'm not sure about Diaw/Barbosa since they last until 2012, but I'd surely welcome the expir-I mean, Lamar Odom.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dave)</div><div class='quotemain'>Bill Cartwright has been offered the job on Terry Porter's staff, according to Mr. Paulie. And it sounds as though he's going to take it.
It doesn't look like Buck Williams will make the cut, however. But now that Buck's name has come up - especially at a time when there are a few vacancies on L-Frank's staff -- we'd love to see the Nets give him a call. Because 10 years out of the game is too long.</div>
Hmm, well there's something to think about. Why not get Buck Williams? IMO, it'd at least be something to look at.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dave)</div><div class='quotemain'>As long as some of you have asked:
If the team drafted big and stood pat, where should they spend their free agent money?
1. Vujacic - Again, throw a pile of money at him to test the Lakers' commitment. Or maybe just to piss them off.
1a. Pietrus - Just as much joie de vivre, and he comes much cheaper.
2. Matt Barnes, Keyon Dooling, Trevor Ariza, and. . . .what's the use of listing these guys, anyway? Year after year after year, we've said they need a lockdown wing defender with a chip on his shoulder and 3-point range. And when we told the suits that they were nuts not to throw a pile at Raja Bell (in '05), Greg Buckner ('06), Ime Udoka ('07) -- and even more nuts for not developing Hassan Adams -- we were laughed at. It'll be the same thing this year.
3. James Posey - Could make another run at him, but you'll have to overpay to get him out of Boston now.</div>
Vujacic sounds nice, but I'm wary of contract-year players. Pietrus is gonna get snatched up before we get to him. Barnes, Dooling Ariza would be nice - although Ariza's injury-prone, Dooling's likely to stay in Orlando, and Barnes will probably get snatched up before we get to him. Posey? Not a chance.
