I'd like to say that this a great parody, but it's actually just a great description of one type of "Christianity"--prosperity gospel. Frank Zappa was a true great.

I agree with the wealthy part. However, fame can be the unsought byproduct of good works. For example, Mother Teresa.
I once knew a Jesuit priest who lived an opulent life. It always bugged me because I've always viewed priests, ignorantly on my part, as taking a vow of poverty. They should take such a vow.

But Trump fixer Michael Cohen arranged to have "compromising" photos of Falwell destroyed in exchange for his endorsement of Trump. Falwell saying Trump was chosen by God gave white evangelicals permission to support him. They liked the misogyny, homophobia, white supremacy, religious bigotry, but we're put off by his language and behavior. Without Falwell they might not have come along and once they did it was totally.
