Extensive report on Rachel Maddow. Information in files mostly already released. That's why there have been no news stories on content. Nothing new.
Trump announced Monday files must be released Tuesday, difference is no redactions. Turns out redacted information was full name, birthdates and social security numbers of various staffers and witnesses. It is illegal to release social security numbers. Many of these people are still alive, in their 70s and 80s. Some are considering legal action. On Wednesday, day after release, administration announced they would look over files for sensitive personal information even though it was already out. They have told people whose information was released they can apply for new social security numbers even though social security is slashing staff and closing offices. Getting new social security numbers means redoing all records, huge undertaking for a bunch of old people. They have also been offered identity monitoring.
Archivists knew prior to release that unredacted records contained people's private identity information but Trump ordered them to release Tuesday and no one is allowed to say no to Trump.
