Jim Rome vs David Stern

I don't see why, if you accepted that something was rigged, you would bother to follow it closely.

The WWE has a ton of fans.

Has everybody forgotten about Donaghy and Scott Foster, and their phone calls? Also the line changes after Foster's conversations? It was obvious that they were both in cahoots, yet nobody cares about it, and we all still post here.

So you equate the NBA to the WWE? And you choose to root hard for a local team, knowing it is rigged, and performance doesn't matter? Sounds like a big waste of money to me.

I've read so much stuff about Stern (good and bad) I don't know what to make of him. But if he is correct, the highest TV ratings for an NBA first game means the league is thriving. Does Stern deserve the credit for this?

Of course Stern deserves credit for the NBA Finals matchup. Didn't you see the 2nd half of SAS vs OKC?

Where SAS looked old and slow(similar to Boston) and OKC(and Miami) seemed to turn it up a notch?

No. The WWE is open about their rigging, and doesn't pretend to be legitimate. Part of the intrigue of the NBA is watching horrific reffing in big games that directly impact the outcome, and then hearing the outrage about it.

So you watch for the refs? Fascinating. I always laughed at showy refs, saying hey,. nobody paid to see you. Guess I was wrong.

Dude, really? I said "part of the intrigue", but whatever. You have a laser-like focus on me at this point of the thread.

Flame away. It's free therapy.

a laser like focus? lol. Sure thing. I responded to your comment equating it to the WWE. I expressed an opinion about how I felt paying for something like that is. laser like focus, gimme a break. Put me back on ignore if you don't like people responding to your stupid comments.

shit, just noticed my laser like focus strayed to a tlong post as well. Stupid crooked laser.

You're the only one disagreeing with me. I said the WWE has a lot of fans, and that the difference is that the WWE is open about themselves being rigged.

I really didn't mean to upset you like this. Are you saying that you're 100% convinced that the NBA has been legitimate on the court over the past 15 years?

I feel convinced that David Stern is not rigging the league in a WWE fashion, yes.

RR7

Are you saying that you're 100% convinced that the NBA has been legitimate on the court over the past 15 years, in light of Donaghy, and some of the obvious impact refs have had in important games?

Asking once would be fine. Asking multiple times, following with a leading question ("Can't you see how it's a fair question?"), and ignoring the legitimate response when it doesn't jibe with his desired answer--that's what made it contentious. And like I said, Rome was the one who got emotional in the interview, which just felt unprofessional to me. IMO, a good interviewer can ask difficult questions without interrupting or talking over his guests.

I agree. It does seem that too often nowadays interviewers interrupt guests intentionally, which tends to annoy or infuriate guests, which makes the guests then look like idiots, and makes the interviewer seem better for it, which is super annoying, IMO.

Damn straying laser.

That wasn't the question.

I don't give a shit. get your laser like focus off of me then. I don't think it is comparable at all to the WWE. Demanding answers to questions posed not specifying strictly that is pointless and stupid. a 15 year 100% guarantee has nothing to do with the initial comments made or responded to. But you always do like shifting it slightly, and demanding an answer to what was not previously implied. Carry on.
I don't think that David Stern rigs the league.

OK. So you don't have 100% certainty that things are on the level in the NBA. Was that so hard to admit?

I have to ask why you'd follow a league that you don't think is 100% legitimate, though. Kind of like you asked me about the same thing. :)

I've said nothing of the sort, but if you just want a conversation with yourself, where you fill in someone's answer, then you can probably do it offline

so you agree that you have never been disappointed after i have had sex with your asshole then?

yes. wait, no. can you rephrase your question in the form of an answer please.

I really hate Jim Rome. He is an arrogant ass who tries to be "edgy" by trying to rile up his guests. He is just a wannabe Skip Bayless.

Skip Bayless is a pimple on Jim Rome's ass, if he's even that lucky. At least in terms of national contracts, and making over $15 million/year.

What are you talking about?

Rome has been around nationally so much longer then Skip Bayless, i'm not sure how you can even compare the two. Love him or hate him, JR has a HUGE following and is one of the best interviewers you'll ever find in or out of sports. i'm not a big fan of his schtik but for pure interview purposes he's one of the best.

I hate Skip Bayless too. Bad comparison but I dislike both guys so it was the first one off the top of my head.

To me it's just douche on douche crime ... moving on.
