Jimmy Butler wants out? (He does.)

I totally missed whatever it was Thibs ever said about loving Evan Turner. That being said you don’t think Neil has offered Evan Freakin Turner and scraps weeks ago and got a hard no immediately? This ain’t happening. Time to turn the page.
This came from a Lamar Hurd tweet: "Tom Thibodeau just said he thinks Evan Turner is one of the NBA's most underrated players. High praise coming from an accomplished coach."

I’m pretty sure Thibs knows Turner as well since both spend (spent) a lot of time in Chicago.

See that's confusing to me, because people said that Rivers was overrated in Boston because of having Thibs as an assistant. Or are we saying that Thibs is only overrated as a head coach, but properly highly rated as an assistant?
Well I didnt say anything about them in Boston. Doc was pretty over rated there too he kind of lucked into 3 hall of famers ready to win. Only won once and then, Doc did a terrible job of handling the Rondo / Ray Allen drama. Doc has basically done nothing since then, he had a few ok regular seasons with CP3 and Blake / Deandre, but again failed to keep people happy. CP3 asked out because of in large part (at least from what Ive read) because of his treatment of his son.

Thibs had a couple good years in Chicago while riding his players knees and bodies into the ground, and failed to even be competitive with Lebrons teams. Then in Minnesota he cant even get one of ‘his’ players to stay in. He’s also supposed to be a defensive mastermind and Minnesota’s defense isnt very good.

To me they’re both over-rated from a couple years where they got to coach prime Allen, Pierce and Garnett.

I would absolutely agree with the latter.

Even with lots of talent, it takes good coaching to go all the way. Ask 1998 Del Harris and 2012 Michael D'Antoni.

Sure it does but Talent almost always beats coaching, and Talent will go far without good coaching too. Its why Lebrons always there his talent. At that point in the east they had 0 challengers all the ‘good’ teams had 1 guy, Bosh, Wade, Lebron. Detroit was getting old. Talent drove those Celtic teams, Im not saying coaching had nothing to do with it, I am saying that Doc and Thibs both became very over-rated from those couple years. With Garnett, Pierce and Allen, they not only had 3 hall of famers, but 3 guys in their prime who had a ton of experience and were ready to win.

Doc and Thibs have been made out to be ‘elite’ coaches and Id say Thibs is a fine assistant, and Doc is a very average coach. He’s lost hall of fame players twice now because he didnt keep his locker rooms happy.
Thibs is has / will lose Butler who is supposed to be one of, “his” guys because he couldnt figure out how to get those guys to click.
I just dont believe either of those two coaches deserve the, “elite coach”, label they are so often given.

But I was told Thibs wasn’t in charge..

Sources say owner Glen Taylor's mandate stands to his front office: Find a deal for Butler.

What part of his boss TELLING him what to do sounds like Thibs is in charge?

If Thibs was in charge, Butler would not be available and they wouldn't even be listening to offers.

What team did Butler get traded to?

And he’s “available” because he demanded a trade.

The only reason I can see that Olshey would not be getting involved here is because he called Butler's agent and asked if Butler would sign long term here and when told no, he just gives up. That's my impression of how he does business; it also seems that is what happened with Cousins. (Although Cousins himself acted like he never heard about it). Maybe I am wrong about Olshey; if so, I hope he proves it soon.

I don't get why Washington doesn't just offer Otto Porter. If you're willing to acquire Dwight Howard, you're obviously trying for a quick fix, so why not go whole hog and get Butler?

He hasn't been traded YET, but he will be, because that's what the owner wants and he's the one signing the checks.

No, he's not available because he demanded a trade, he's available because the owner wants him traded. If Thibs was calling the shots, or if the owner and Thibs were on the same page, they'd be doing everything possible to placate Jimmy and make him happy in MIN, but they aren't, they are shopping Jimmy for the best offer. If Thibs was calling the shots, he would be entertaining offers for Andrew Wiggins, not Jimmy Butler.

check out woj's tweet in middle of article about taylor's message about butler's availability to other team owners at the nba board of governors meeting. sounds like he is willing to go over managements' heads

By definition, he IS over managements' heads. He's the one that hires and fires them and signs their paychecks. Any delusions that Taylor is not the one calling the shots is ludicrous.

Why does the owner want him traded? Oh yeah because Butler wants out. Any other brain busters?

heres the most likely scenario, based on all the info reported

Butler asked for a trade

Owner wants to move him instead losing of him for nothing

Told Thibs to find the best deal

Thibs hasn’t found one, whether it’s genuine or whether he’s stalling, who knows, but he’s still the one in charge. He knows the league better than Taylor, and a good leader let’s his people do their jobs.

Most likely: he's not willing to trade CJ for a guy who won't commit long-term.

I think this happens:

SAC Gets: Tyler Johnson, 2019 MIA 1st
MIN Gets: Josh Richardson, Bam Adebeyo, Kosta Kofous
MIA Gets: Jimmy Butler, Gorgui Dieng,

You keep insisting that Thibodeau is in charge, yet in the days after Butler's trade demand, Thibs kept insisting that Butler was not available:

https://clutchpoints.com/timberwolves-news-tom-thibodeau-holding-firm-in-not-trading-jimmy-butler/

Yet, Butler is available. Why, because Taylor stepped in and told other GM's to call him directly:

https://clutchpoints.com/timberwolv...my-butler-is-available-teams-should-call-him/

Still sound like your boy Thibs is the one calling the shots?

If Taylor was actually in charge, this deal would’ve been done by now.

So, you actually think Taylor is dumb enough to take that shitty offer? I sure as fuck wouldn't. It said Minnesota pushed for more - no mention if it was Thibs or Taylor doing the pushing.
